All my photgraphy is done on a mac pro. However I have just acquired a macbook air. I have 800 photos from a trip to spain which are partly processed. When i get home is it possible to move the folder with pics onto my main machine and import the catalogue into lightroom on the pro so all the work i have done is not wasted?

It's easy to do.

Select the root folder where you images are. Now right click and select Export as Catalogue. Make sure you tick "Include negative" in the options. set a destination for the files and a name. Click Export

This will make a copy of the Lightroom catalogue, plus copy the previews and the main images, all in one folder.

When you get home copy this folder to your main machine. In Lightroom Library module, choose File> Import catalogue. Select the .lrcat in that folder and it will import the images for you complete with any edits, and add this to your main catalogue
