Yes
I have lightroom 3 installed as a upgrade from lightroom 2. However I am purchasing a new computer. Do I still have to install lightroom 2 and then 3 as an upgrade on to the new computer/

Secondly, do I have to deactivate lightroom from my previous computer?

Any help appreciated

Why not contact Adobe? I'd suspect no and yes

The Lightroom licence allows it to be used on two machines, notably a laptop and a desktop. I'm not sure if the Adobe servers know if your machine is one or the other.

In the past I have had Lightroom an a several machines and I'm sure I didn't deactivate them , however it only takes a few minutes to do.If you come to add that copy to another machine you own it may state you've too many copies installed. Better safe than sorry.

As far as upgrading is concerned you may need to verify that you have the "Legit" version of LR2 by entering the LR2 serial no at some stage.

Yes I have it on two machines now. When my new mac arrives I dont want it telling me that I cant install it due to already being on two machines. Could you tell me how to deactivate it please? i have searched but cannot find how to do it. Thanks

Having done a search, including the Adobe site there does not seem to be a deactivation option for Lightroom. There are a lot of hits on goggle about this but no one seems to know if it's possible. Look slike Adobe don't police this as tightly as Photoshop.

I have loaded Lightroom onto at least 4 computers over the last 3 years and not deactivated any of them. Still running fine on numbers 3 & 4

I changed my computer after an upgrade download of Lightroom 3, with the new computer I went back to the Adobe download site and downloaded again. After loading and running the software, it will ask for your LR3 key, if it was an upgrade it will recognise this to an upgrade number, and ask for the LR2 serial number, enter this and it will run.

Okay wel my new iMac has been ordered so will just have to wait till it arrives and see if it loads on okay. Thanks for your help

FROM ADOBE LIGHTROOM FORUM
Lightroom does not require activation therefore you need to take any action before installing it on another computer. However, you should note that your license is for two computers of which only one should be used at any time. From the License agreement: "2.4 Portable or Home Computer Use. The primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer."
