I have had several problems with Go Daddy - today my site is down and has been 3 or four times this year- with Go Daddy saying they are experiencing "Technical issues"

I'm looking to move away from them now- any suggestions for a reasonable priced web host?

Les

TSO/Vidahost recently got bought out by GoDaddy. Expect the quality of service to drop much further.

I've heard somebody on here say that before, but I can't find anything to back it up.
Can you point me to something that confirms this because I am with TSO Host and if this is true, I will be looking to move.

b****r! Looks like i need to start looking for a new host. Godaddy are bloody awful.
This explains the drop in customer service at TSOHost.

I was just thinking myself the other day that customer support seemed somewhat off par than usual

Another with TSO, it's def not what it used to be (moved to them a couple of years ago).

I had a look at who to possibly change to a few months ago without much luck. Every reviewer seems to be on someones payroll :(

Think I'll stay with TSO and see what happens for now. Moving 12 websites, 3 with SSL doesn't sound a fun job.

Siteground are much faster.

Hi Andy. I've had a look at their site and they look good. Do you have any sites with them.

I'm looking to move a VDS, 6 cores, 6Gb ram and their prices look very good. It would be a waste of a lot of money and ball ache to move only to find they're not so good (my site is live and transactional). The only reviews I can find are on their own site (so I give no weight to them) and paid\sponsored review sites.

I don't have any servers with them, I just host my site on their GrowBig package and it's lightning fast compared to what it was on TSO. I went from Godaddy to TSO, expecting a huge improvement, but there wasn't one sadly. But the jump to Siteground made the site run slicker and get better GTMetrix scores. I had 97% until I decided to add a G+ widget on the bottom which added some external calls.

Speed is my main issue. I've upgraded CPU and RAM which has helped a little but not as much as I'd hope. I'm sure SSD would be a big improvement.

I'm with godaddy and I'm actually at renewal time. Is it painless to move my domain to another host? This is the only thing stopping me from moving. This is a great thread so I'll be following for more advice and tips. Ta

I am going to be staying with TSO Host for the moment and see how things pan out

Calm down people.

Tso were part of the group as the website deletion experts 123reg previously. They were fine then.

Fingers crossed GD keep their oars out and they'll be operated in the same way as before.

But they're not, that's the problem. Support used to be great. You could always speak to one of the top guys, but now you have to waste days emailing 1st level support that a) have English as a second language and b) don't really know what they are doing.

I've been with TSO since 2011, but for the past year or two support levels have dropped a lot.

The customer service with TSO was great, but the performance was night and day between them and Siteground, for the same money.

Yes, pretty easy. Siteground will do the site transfer for you if you don't want to though.

Yes thats right all this companies from 123reg ,heartinternet , tsohost ,Vidahost 1and1 are now a part of Godaddy. You might even see lots of support and uptime issues since the change. I personally use Webhost UK
they are affordable for the quality and support they offer its been more than 3 years with them things are good. Siteground is one good host ,but quit high price for something I can get at better price.

It's depressing when someone good is taken over by someone crap. I'm with TSO but they've been a bit mixed. The email system they have is awful. I have to badger them every few months to move my service onto a less over loaded system other wise I can't read or send email at all.

I'm going to wait but I reckon I'll be looking for someone else as well.

I had this as well Suz. The solution is to more email over in Wordpress to SMTP, then emails arrive instantly.

Just need a free plugin (I used WP Mail SMTP) and fill in a few settings from TSO. 2 minute job.

It's not as quick as it used to be a few years back granted. Seemed to slow down a bit when they expanded into the new data centre a few years back.

That said it's still a lot quicker than most. Contacted them regarding an ssl Installation which required migration to a newer version of centos and was dealt with still pretty quickly.

That said my services are up in October, we'll see how it goes. But certainly not work panicking about for now. As I say hopefully they'll be operated in the same way.

To be honest on the hosting I've had since 2012 running multiple (older) Magento stores on a low package I've never had any issues, it's only on newer cloud hosting and trying to run more updated software where I've had issues and needed to talk to support which recently has been frustrating as those on live chat/phone don't seem to know that much about their systems. I'm not moving my older established sites because they are running fine, but if the speeds start to drop or there's any changes to my package it's getting moved.
