Movie Making software

Hello everyone!

Not sure if this is in the right place so please feel free to move mods

I'm after some free software that enables me to put a stream of photos together with my own choice of music, iv tried windows movie maker but for some reason my photos just turn to blank canvas when i place them in the story board
Can anyone recommend anything please?
