Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has
been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since
his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be
remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain; Why the early bird gets the worm;
Life isn't always fair; and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in
charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a 6-year-old boy
charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from
school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding
an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job
that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent
to administer sun lotion or an Aspirin to a student; but could not inform
parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and
criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar
in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her
lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his
wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights
I Want It Now
Someone Else Is To Blame
I'm A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you
still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

There is lot of truth in that epitaph.

another one of the team lost

he will be missed

i never knew him but i'm sure he was a very nice chap!

Is that American, realize realized

Must be the same worldwide

He used to be my best mate but when I started work in Health & Safety he ****** off complaining I ignored him

We join you in your loss.He was a good friend and made a deep and lasting impression on us all.
Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Pete.

So true. I just hope all the do-gooders are really pleased with themselves.

He's not dead, I've seen him working down the chip shop with Elvis!

I thought he died when John Major took over the running of the so called Once Great Nation:shrug: Maybe he had a twin:thinking: RIP buddy, you are missed more every day, one day, maybe when we are old and fragile, you will return to us, in the form of a small Yappy Dog, maybe a ****-Su:woot:

But hello to your monkey, he's still alive, isn't he????????????

I knew common sense; we met a few times over the years, firstly at school when he dictated that hitting children was a good way of teaching, especially if they were dyslexic and could not understand.

The next time we bumped in to each other was the 70’s when he thought that black people were second class citizens, and that a woman’s place was in the home.

Happily for common sense he met empirical evidence and their offspring: equality, empathy and rationality I am still in touch with and see everyday . ;)

Sounds like you met an imposter to me:shrug:.

Holden I'd say the instances you outlined were more examples of a common sense failure, something which is becoming more frequent (probably due to it's sad passing I've just learnt of :D)

That was the trouble with common sense, without his partner empirical evidence, he made mistake after mistake. :D

Thankfully empirical evidence is alive and well and so are their offspring ;)

Which is why if i go to see a doctor, I prefer that he/ she consults with empirical evidence:thumbs:

What's really upset me is no reply from monkey. Nevermind, I expect it's the first time he's seen snow, probably still out making snow monkeys.

Surely common sense dictates that you check your evidence before posting?

Seems that "Sense of Humour" has sadly passed away as well RIP.

but common sense is dead, it dont dictate anything anymore;)

As long as there's still stubbornness, sarcasm and people stupid enough to accuse me of cynicism, I'm happy to see where this whole ball of wax ends up. :D:D
