Hi,

I'm looking to use my SB-600 with an umbrella off camera.

What i'm trying to establish is if it is possible to connect the umbrella and flash to a standard tripod ? - assuming a special mount is available that fits to the adaptor ?

I'd rather avoid buying a separate light stand if possible.

TIA,
Mike.

I bought one of these a couple of days ago and for the money it is extremely good value, it is all metal and feels pretty sturdy.

I'm about to buy a large parabolic light modifier (based on an umbrella type design) and I was after a design like this as I wanted the flash to be as close as possible to the umbrella shaft. Most umbrella holders for use with hotshoes flashes are designed so the flash is upright which isn't much good when using a small to medium size umbrella as it will give a very uneven light distribution.

I was amazed at how difficult it was to find what I was looking for, I even tried to cannibalise old bits I had knocking around but this one fits the bill perfectly.

I didn't want to use my expensive carbon tripod as a lighting stand, when they are only £12.95 each, so I bought a pair of these. Work well, just watch out for wind + brollies

I'm coming to the concolusion there is no mount for a standard tripod to connect umbrella and flash....think i'll just have to pick up a cheap light stand & mount

you can get a spigot that screws onto the screw on your tripod for about £3, and you then put a brolly adapter on that.... however, for another tenner, get the light stand, means you can use both at the same time (tripod + flash on a stand) :D :P less fiddly and less to go wrong too

To mount an umbrella and flashgun onto a tripod all you need is an umbrella adapter and a spigot to attach that to the tripod....

Thanks guys - I have 2 tripod so i'm as well to use one of them for the flash, where can i get these spigots ?
