APPEAL FOR STUNNING SNAPSHOTS

With this years weather having provided some of the most striking scenes, one of the nations best known tyre companies is inviting people to capture the beauty of the outdoors on camera.

Goodyear tyres, which recently joined forces with Mountain Rescue England and Wales, is producing a special 2010 calendar which will feature twelve of the countrys most dramatic and beautiful scenes to increase awareness of the charitys work and raise much needed funds.

The company, which has pledged to support Mountain Rescue by funding the roll out of GPS navigational equipment, is now appealing for amateur photographers with a love of the outdoors to send in their most impressive pictures and stand a chance at inclusion in the calendar.

Anna Stanley, Goodyears communications specialist said: As experts in safety and innovation, Goodyear is committed to supporting life saving organisations in order to help them maintain their already high standards.

Were therefore delighted to be able to support Mountain Rescue by creating this calendar to help raise additional funds for the charity and draw attention to the fantastic work they do.

Mountain Rescue provides search and rescue support across England and Wales in both low land as well as mountainous regions. Working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, they receive no government funding and rely entirely on donations.

Since launching the partnership, many teams have benefitted from the provision of Goodyears 4x4 tyres for their rescue vehicles. Having recently launched a new tyre for the market which offers excellent performance both on and off road, Goodyears Wrangler AT/SAs will help to ensure that Mountain Rescue teams, as well as other 4x4 drivers, are well prepared for off road action.

Budding photographers are now invited to send in their entries by emailing photography@htpr.co.uk. The deadline for entries is the 31st September, and details can be found at www.mygoodyear.co.uk.

Rights grab.

from the T&C's

By submitting your photographs, you agree to grant the Promoter the right to use the photograph in the 2010 mountain rescue calendar and for website, PR, and printed collateral

Which sounds fair enough and pretty standard for reasonably well run competitions.

However....

Entries must be submitted via email to photography@htpr.co.uk. Entrants must state their car's make, model and tyre fitment size along with your contact details, age, location of the photograph and a brief caption (400 words) to accompany your image

Though the prize includes 4 shiny new tyres, I suspect you may get some promotional material from goodyear from time to time ;)

Snip...the prize includes 4 shiny new tyres, I suspect you may get some promotional material from goodyear from time to time ;)

Wonder If I give them the details of my Mountain Bike they'll sort me 4 tyres for that

Initially I thought the T&Cs regarding usage were fairer than most I've read but when I re-read it I don't think it's particulary clear whether the "and for website, PR, and printed collateral " appies to the calendar promotion or further uses.

It does kind of give them a cheeky way to use the images as fodder for their website, doesn't it. Wouldn't mind if it was for MR's exclusive use, but Goodyear are a commercial organization and can pay for their photo rights I reckon.

The T&C say that by submitting, you give them rights to use the image... is this normal? so even if you don't win or get published, they could use your photo on their website or in promo material.

It means all images submitted Lee.

However, I would assume the word 'collateral' is the important one here, in its general definition it means that use for website and promotional stuff would be in relation to the calendar only surely? Still, Goodyear are a big company, so you makes your submission and you takes your choice ;)

I'm happy enough to support the Mountain Rescue teams around the country and have no issue sharing a few phnotos with them, the T&Cs regarding Goodyears use of the images could do with a bit more clarification though

So why 2 months after joining is this your first post.

Where are all the pics.
Sorry OP just it makes me suspicious.

The cause is great but it looks like a free marketing ploy.

If it's not sorry.

If it is just say so

Just to clarify in my slightly fuzzy head...

Say they get 5012 images submitted. They pick 12 for the calendar, but can still use the other 5,000 too?
