Hello.

Im currently using a 55-250mm canon lens for motorsports. Ide like something like a 150-500 sigma. Its not a fast lens but I won't be spending around the £1000 area as its just a hobby but I do a lot of motorsport photography during the season. On the other hand I could buy a second hand 70-200mm sigma and get a 1.6x extender?

£500/£600 in one go is a lot especially as ive just bought my first car.

Is there anywhere that offer 0% interest finance on lenses? Ile happily pay £100 a month till its paid of :) I did with my XboxOne xD

Thanks

I'm sure my mate mentioned that Jessops were doing 0% interest on lenses for a year but I just had a quick look and the 150-500 says 6 months so I probably wasn't listening properly:D
Maybe they do a year on some- have a closer look. You will pay be slightly more from Jessops but it's unlikely you will find lowest price and interest free from the same shop.

I always think its best to cover the most useful focal length in your lens without needing a T/C and then use one for those times when you need one, rather than having a shorter lens and needing one all the time.

I'm using a crop sensor too. Yeh suppose ile have to crop the image a lot with a 200mm

Maybe I should save and get a 150-500mm sigma :)

Sigma are doing £100 cashback on the 150-500 at the moment- probably as the Tamron 150-600 is affecting sales.

So that would make it £649 with not much more than £100 per month to pay off. Just depends how much you really need something as opposed to wanting. A few on ebay but they are still over £500 (with the usual 'I've had a UV filter on since new to make my images really fuzzy':p) so not that much of a saving over brand new with warranty.

Hmm, its not a source of income for me so ile try and get a bit of money to one side before buying one if I decide to spend £500.

£500 has to be my cut off really.

ive always wanted a 70-200 f2.8 which is why I thought ide get one when I saw one at the £300-£350 mark lol

Clifton Cameras are doing 12 months 0% finance... Might be worth giving them a look. :)

Their T's&C's from Pay 4 Later are not completely transparent although one expects nothing less from any finance type company. Says you can pay off at any time but fails to mention whether you would be charged to do so or not- I expect you would be. None of it looks very attractive to me but then I am very cynical:D .

The 0% finance seems to be on selected products.

Think I might go in to my savings for £200/£300 and get it from digitalrev tbh :)

Its not a spare of the moment thing as ive wanted one for a while and do quite a bit of on-track photography :D

Sounds like a plan, motorsport season is only just kicking off so time yet anyway:).

I bought my first D800 from Jessops on 10 months interest free. I mean.. it would be rude not to!... no interest... spread the cost. It was with V12 finance... no problems. Makes sense if you don't have the cash to splash when you actually want the camera. It costs no extra.. so go for it.

Yeah true. Ile look in to it. Suppose its £750 at jessops, £650 with cash back which is only around £70 more than digitalrev.

think the thing with finance is to not use it if you dont need it, and if you do, look very carefully at the terms and conditions

I want f2.8 really. I have a Canon 55-250mm at the moment anyway

If I was to get the sigma 2.8 70-200 it would not be the OS version

Any reason in particular for wanting f2.8? In my experience you will rarely (if ever) be shooting wide open. The AF speed gain of the 2.8 is negligible over an f4 lens, particuarly with regards the to Sigma 70-200.

A decent used Sigma 100-300mm f4 offers more reach, and should offer better quality and AF quicker than a Sigma 70-200 2.8 with a 1.4tc attached. I love mine, bang for buck there is nothing that comes close in my opinion...http://www.flickr.com/photos/harry_s/sets/72157633309441107/
