Take 2 on the attempt to procure a 125 for Mrs Nod, after the lying salesman lost the first place the sale. IF he'd been honest about the reason for the delay and IF he'd phoned back when he said he would, there wouldn't be a problem but he failed on both counts.

I rode out to the end of the Distinguished Gentleman's Run (Lancs) and shot some pictures but you'll have to wait as they were on my Mamiya C3 and I need to develop the film.

Some lovely bikes, fine outfits and a beautiful day on Blackpool seafront.
 
DGR had a couple of unfortunate clashes for me. #1, the local public jog (Great West Run) which pretty much cut us off from the South and West of town as well as the whole town centre and #2, the VSCC hillclimb at Wiscombe Park which would have won out over the DGR anyway! Did see a few suitably dressed riders on appropriate bikes on the way towards the city yesterday.
 
Bit of a result with the 125 today. Visited the next closest dealer who had a very suitable bike that has been preregistered so significantly reduced in price. The dealer says they'll still give it the full 2 year warranty. Got 7 miles on the clock (got taken to a local filling station) but still all the stringy bits on the tyres. Should be picking it up on Friday. SHOULD be...
 
When we used to camp, we had an air bed. I had air horns on the bike back then so used to connect the air hose from the compressor for the horns to the fill nozzle and kept my finger on the button. Did a final top up blow just before either bed time or heavy drinking time to counteract the contraction of the air in the bed as it cooled.

OK, a day late! However, the Herald is now here! Not a huge fan of knobblies but can live with them (besides, it's Mrs Nod's bike, not mine!) and if we decide to change them, we saved enough to fund a set of road tyres! It's on a 72 plate since it was registered last October so we've lost out on 6 months or so MOT but see previous not re savings! Mrs Nod will be terrorising the locals tomorrow, going round the block a few times to get used to it.
Looks enough like a real bike to get the biker wave from all but GS riders but they don't wave at anything other than other GSes!!! :P

Not the best pic in the world but a black bike in bright sunshine contre jour is a challenge for most cameras - a stop of underexposure has given an acceptable result!!!

Yup, she's been out round the block a few times to increase confidence before hitting "proper" traffic.
 
No Harleys here - but it looks too cold for my Nadgers!!!

#3 looks nice though.

The Grand St Bernard I did last year. I don’t recall singing because it was a vile day!
I did have a nice lunch at a restaurant next to the lake though.
 
Just arrived in the Black Forest to stay tonight. Switzerland was simply amazing.
Even today, on the last day, it blew me away. I saw scenery so beautiful on the ride up to the Klausenpass that I almost cried.
How am I going to top this next year?
 
if you go over the Colle del Nivolet in the italian alps, keep an eye open for a big blue bus hanging over the cliff edge...the occupants will be singing " self preservation society" :D:D:D

Try the Picos. Much quieter, epic roads. The conisseurs tour.

And also, follow the Alps down from Switzerland to Nice and take in all the famous passes en route.

I have considered Los Picos. The only issue I have is that the area is relatively small. But I guess I could combine it with Andorra.

I'm already swaying towards Austria and the Dolomites.

Time will tell.
