Motorbikes

I know it’s coming and understand the reasons why but just don’t think an electric bike is a proper bike
A bike has an engine and is alive an electric bike isn’t the same
Electric cars are different a car is just a tool a means of transportation but there’s something special about bikes , I know I’m being irrational and probably shouldn’t post when I’ve had a couple of beers  :$

Agreed which is why all bikers need to join and support MAG.

Found out what touches down first when 2 up on the Speedmaster - the shorty pipes (on the right hand side, anyway!) It's the sacrificial lugs on the pegs when solo, although it tends to be my heels before them in real life.
Just waiting until we get back from holiday then we'll be going L bike shopping so Mrs Nod can ride her own bike!

Since one of my bikes has a fairly limited range anyway (120 miles if I'm not too enthusiastic, less if I'm a bit wristy!), that aspect of an electric bike (EB) won't really impact me and since I wear hearing aids, at least in part because of loud pipes, I'm not too bothered about the lack of noise, besides, as I said above, I'll be keeping the noisy bikes as well. IF an EB has similar acceleration up to (perhaps a little beyond...) the 70 MPH top limit here in the UK and has similarly reduced running costs compared to a ICE bike (our Leaf costs about 1/4 to 1/5th what its predecessor did per mile), I can see the attraction. I do want to test ride one at least before I make any judgement - I might hate it!

It’s all good an electric bike will most likely be faster and cheaper to run than my old LC but I’m old fashioned I guess but there’s nothing like opening her up in second and third the noise from the allspeed exhausts is addictive
I’ve had it 20 years and it will still be running in another 20 all consumable parts are available and can even get the cylinders relined when I run out of rebores

TBH, I doubt I'll be running too well in 20 years!!! Hell, 10 years ago, I was bedridden and had 3-6 months left!!!

Not sure I could hear an Elsie in its power band these days - not so much a problem with big 4 stroke twins (although a CBX might be out of my range).

So today I had someone cross into my lane on a roundabout and someone else try to move into lane 3 of a motorway, despite me already being there.
I wonder how on earth someone cannot see a motorbike that has such bright lights.
Both drivers experienced just how loud and powerful a Denali Soundbomb is and moved back to where they should have been.

MOT passed this morning. Expected advisory on rear tyre. New one ordered.

I was surprised to get an advisory for "exhaust noisy". It is an after market exhaust but conforms to necessary legal standards.

He didn't measure db so I'm not sure how he can make a statement about it.

Any thoughts on that?

If the tester thinks it's noisy, he/she can make the advisory call. To actually fail it, he/she would need to put a meter of some sort on it (or point out the "Not For Highway Use" sticker/stamp on the pipe).

Of course, some testers will fail to see the stamp/sticker and suggest that it's covered by tape (which they're not allowed to remove!) before they do see it... :) ;)

Saw this yesterday in Aviemore....

One of my favourite bikes of all time was a Yamaha XJ750 Seca. It just sounded so good to my often befuddled ears back then. Sadly an unknown neighbour used to knock it over on a regular basis so it got very battered but it still helped me pull a few female admirers over the couple of years it lasted. I guess the bike in your picture can't be too far from a Seca except in the styling.
Actually having just taken a closer look at your picture it was. Chain drive for starter, but footpegs look JUST the same..

Milenco are replacing the chain FOC.

I should hope so, plus something towards the hassle, possible loss of work/income, grinder disc etc...
I recently had a can of paint rust through from the inside (it was under 2 years old) depositing well over a litre of paint on a clients cellar floor. The paint company 'generously' offered me a free can of paint. Like I'd risk another from them...

Squirt as much WD40 or 3in1 oil into the keyhole and any other orifices of the lock as they will hold and refill them once a month. That should remove rusting as a problem if nothing else!

Out for bimble this evening, pulled in at the river, spent 10 minutes there, decided to head home. Swung my leg over the bike, turned the key, pressed the button.......nothing.......dead as.

:runaway:

Phoned Wifey, she was in a panic but told her first off, I was ok. Explained what had happened and my spare battery was there within the hour.

Salt of the earth, my wife.;)

Oh no that’s a nightmare, good plan to have a spare battery

I should've known better really, it was a bit sticky last time out. I thought it would be fine.

It's not done bad though for a 3 year old Chinese battery, fitted by the dealer when I bought the bike.

I'll be putting a half decent one on this time.

Autumn is on the way. I changed the visors on three of the helmets to clear ones yesterday.

I have clear visors on my lids but they have built in sun visors for the few days they're needed! Keep forgetting to take normal shades with me for when I get off the bike...

Couldn't you bump start it?
The bike, not the wife....:p

Put the lining back in my jacket last night. Was glad of it today on the misty moor between Macclesfield and Buxton.
