Not sure if we have a thread started on this year's MotoGP yet, so off we go.

Well, good result for Crutchlow, not so hot for the rest of the Aliens.
Cant make my mind up if Rossi is going to swipe MM for his latest attempt at intimidation or just slink away now he's older and probably thinking more about living to an old age than he used to. Shame he got dumped out of what looked to be a certain 6th place.
Havent seen it yet but from the pictures etc it would seem MM was a little over exuberant.

Wasnt it Stoner (said to VR) your ambition outweighed your talent........

Given the condemnation that the pundits have landed on MM perhaps the governing body will ask him to rein it in a bit before anyone gets hurt or worse.

TBH I'm surprised he wasn't disqualified for riding the wrong way at the start and all the rest of the nonsense after he stalled it.

But a British rider leading the championship is very nice to see, especially on an independent bike.

Struggling to put into words the level of incompetence shown by the organisers last night for the MotoGP race other than despite following Scottish football for all my life, I've never seen so many screw-ups in such a small amount of time. Honestly catch the highlights on channel 5 tomorrow IIRC as I'm not going to do this justice, it needs to be seen.

There was a massive lack of respect shown by MM to the field that race, his actions at the start and then ultra-aggressive passing was shocking. The track was mostly dry and had multiple lines for riders to use but at the corner where MM made contact with 3 other riders, it was damp and had a restricted line, he was the only rider to repeatedly attempt to pass at that corner (others passed there but was due to the bike in front running wide). It was little wonder Rossi, or Rossi’s crew, politely told him to get lost at the end when he tried to apologise. I like MM, he’s exciting to watch but when you are bumping into other riders at the speeds these guys hit then it’s going to end badly.

In over 30 yrs of following MotoGP I have never seen such a farce as yesterdays race.
the delay at the start was ridiculous and the in race antics were just ludicrous.
once a rider has picked their tyres the race should commence and then have to pit to change bikes.
Miller was penalised for choosing the right tire option and was robbed of a potential win.
I also believe MM should have started from pit lane after stalling his bike on the grid and because he ignored the race clerk MM should have been black flagged at the first opportunity.

Well done Cal, you played a blinder and took full advantage of the opportunity. (y)

I guess the organisers' felt that so many riders in the pits at once to change tyres/bike might have been dangerous.

Difficult call considering virtually all of the riders had chosen the "wrong" tyres, but it really meant that Miller was almost penalised as he chose slicks and would have reaped the benefit of everyone else pitting at the end of lap 1.

What might have been a better solution would have been to give Miller a time benefit of say 30/40 seconds being the difference between going out on the wrong tyres and having to pit and change bikes to get onto the bike with slicks. What I havent seen though is did they just change bikes or change tyres? It could be that the better/worse bike was in the pits and if allowed to change tyres there could be a further advantage gained or maybe lost, whatever happened it was a farce for sure, will watch tonight's highlights if I get a chance.

MM knows the rules and he chose to ignore them. I remember watching him fight from the back of a Moto2 race and he was beyond reckless, barging slower riders out of the way. Hodgson was the first BSB rider to fall foul of the new rules about stalling on the grid at Oulton Park and won from the back without riding like MM.

Being a Rossi fan I'm hardly neutral but I don't think many other riders would feel unsafe riding wheel to wheel with him, he's made the odd do or die manoeuvre over the years with the likes of Stoner and Gibernau but overall he is a clean racer.

Looks like a great season in front of us.

Rossi is without doubt one of the greatest riders ever and barring the odd clash does ride pretty cleanly, but he is the master tactician when it comes to mind games, so I wonder if this is a case of whipping up hysteria to get MM to calm it down a bit, after all it doesnt take much of a time difference to give Rossi a real chance of competing for another world title, although in my view he already has no.10 despite what the record books show.

As you say, could be a great season, so long as no-one gets injured and my biggest fear is Rossi getting wiped out by something that isnt his fault. I would truly hate to see anything bad happen to him this late in his wonderful career.

Oh dear. MM not the best example of bike riding I have ever seen going for gaps that don't exist.
Licence points and start from the back of the grid/pit lane next race would be fair I think, he needs to be shown in no uncertain way that riding that way is unacceptable.

Biggest surprise of the GP - how calm Miller was in the post race interview.

It appears MM is starting to believe the hype that surrounds him. Whilst he's an amazing talent, he's still made of flesh and blood like all the others. My fear is he could sustain serious injury (or worse) thinking he's attained super-human status and has become invulnerable.

Awfull as it sounds he needs to pick up an injury that will take him out of action for a few rounds and possibly make him realise he is human and can get hurt before he does some serious long term damage to either himself or somebody else.

I think these new airbag systems are making them feel much safer, the commentators were fearing for Pedrosas collar bone on his landing but he just stood up and walked away, great for rider safety but will it mean some may push the limits a little more.

Foggy4ever - a king carl fan by chance? Theres agressive overtaking, Rossi is guilty as most, then theres going in too hot by mistake, Rossi on Stoner, but Marquez was just plain delibrate. 3 times at the same corner is no accident

Looks like the naughty children are off to see the Headmaster in Texas.
Let's hope they calm it all down and get back to proper "hard but fair" riding and no further injuries or crashes and we get close fought stuff with a good outcome.

On that note I also think it a real shame that Cal's superb performance was overshadowed by the naughty stuff and the great racing at the front was also overshadowed, one of the best races for quite a while, 4 racers swapping positions for many a lap, as opposed to MM bu**ering off into the distance.

only just noticed this thread, but can only echo most of the above.

Well done Cal and MM should have been punished, great rider but just needs to keep feet on the ground or it wont be long until something stops him riding.
