Is anyone else having problems with mosquitos this year, there seems to be loads of them. My poor wife has got stings all over her arms, legs and neck, no cream seems to work.

Not noticed any here (Wellingborough) but plenty of horseflies at the moment.
Our amah in Hong Kong used to smear my mossie bites in Tiger Balm ointment when I was a kid, I can't remember if it helped but it stopped me scratching

None here but my Wife uses Incognito spray, she has tried lots of others but Incognito seems to work for her.

Didn't that sting?
If I get it anywhere near a cut it hurts like hell.

As to the question, its all quiet on the mossie front here I'm hoping / guessing they have all drowned.

@Cobra It stung like hell, which distracted me from the itching!

Tiger balm is a bit weird in the way it works - it excites the hot and cold sensors at the same time so confuzzles the frink out of the nerve endings!

We have some extra strength steroid cream (VERY short term use only!) which works a treat if we do get bitten and I use Avon Skinsosoft while Mrs Nod uses DEET to reduce the likelihood of getting bit. Not seen many here this year, despite there being plenty of standing water for the b'stids to breed in...

Loads down on the South Coast, they love me!!!

I use Anthisan cream to stop the itching.

We've been having a go at making compost at home this year. Seems to be going ok, but the amount of mosquitos that come out when the lid is lifted is quite alarming. They're noticeably bigger than normal as well. On a warm evening they often try to kill me :hungover:

Yes well I have when it is required ,the mosquito coil is most effective. The green variety ,I am told are made up of elephant poo .

Far less than normal round Cambs area - and they love me normally!

When me and the Mrs head to Thailand I get feasted on by mozzies, but they never touch her - she's Thai.... I start itching like crazy and the bite sites swell up. On my most recent trip we asked at a pharmacy about a cream to help stop the itching and they gave me some extra strength steroid cream and it does work a treat!!!

Have tried Tiger Balm too but it's not as effective as the steroid cream...

I find Tiger balm good for muscle/joint pain,. but just like lesser creams [Deep Heat for example] never put it anywhere near even the slightest cut! Very much an external only cream/balm - I too have learned the hard way
