Aiming a kick at the nuts isn't quite the same beating someone to pulp and breaking their arm....Not doing any disservice to John, no intention of that at all, merely looking at the possible interpretation of the authorities...

Well yes of course. Though the "gentleman" in question did actually die from his injuries. IIRC the first gentle tap from Mr Smeaton was sufficient to break his pelvis.

True but those were injuries inflicted before Mr Smeaton interference. Anyway it doesn't matter, I just don't think the kind of injuries inflicted on the victim were quite the same. But either way both bastards were caught.

The kind of injuries inflicted are totally irrelevant, its the fact he/they had a go.
