Hey, my names Ben, finally took up photography a few months back with the purchase of a nikon D5000 kit, still not very good lol so thought i'd join here after hearing good things from some photographers posting on ocuk :p
 
Morning Ben and welcome, another early riser on Sundays! This is a great forum for observing and learning from but you will learn more and quicker if you participate! So get out and take photos, post them and ask for critique. Look though other peoples photos and see what you like, what make a 'good' photo and then have a go.
My only little word of advice is try and decide what you are interested in photographing, each field is quite specialised....
