More save the world rubbish!!

:lol::lol::lol:
Sounds about right

 :woot: yeah, so I can drive to work guiltless now then? :D

In fairness, the reason cars are so much improved is that manufacturers have been bullied into environmental improvements by the greenies...not to mention th epoor motorist being taxed and taxed again, but thats for another argument ;)

Does man made global warming exist? Hmm...not sure I totally concur with the new religion of greendom, especially as we are naturally in a period of global warming that has been occuring for millions of years, swinging between ice ages and warm phases, but I also tend to go with the theory that 'doing your little bit' is a one way bet - if we are making a difference, then your little bit is a good thing, if we arent really effecting it, then you have lost nothing by doing your little bit. ;)

I for one do not believe in any of the theories about man causing global warming, believing if we are in a period of sustained global warming it is only another of the natural cycles that have been occurring for millions of years.

Even if it was a part of natural cycles, it seems to be going quite fast for one.

Some interesting information about the natural cycles seem to be here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_age

Perhaps it just depends on how many animals fart, though ;)

Emissions of greenhouse gases are often closely related to other environmental problems, though.

Btw., the first person who commented under the article seems to have a couple of good points.

Right, lets put this in the bag once and for all :)

You drive, you get blammed for emmiting fumes into the air
You walk, you get blammed for being un-healthy

I seriously hate the way things are going, the goverment is all anti-everything and everyone. I think it is time that we have a new goverment come into town.

And oh yeah, sorry to say but that so called prefesser or scienticest whatever. But i am a veggie, and i cycle everywhere. Now say to me that i am doing more harm than if i was driving?

The last time meat come on my plate i was nearly sick, it wasn't cooked enough. not to even be given to a dog, let alone a human.

I am sorry but they just loss

based on the greenhouse gases created by intensive beef production

Because, obviously we should base all our calculations on that. What a ridiculous article.

I agree the earth is in a natural warming phase - I just think we have significantly speeded it up. To me it isnt all about global warming but about the general trashing of the planet that we are responsible of.

i say lets live it up now , use up all the resources s*d the planet and bo**ocks to everyone else . ( am i getting close ? )

sounds like a good plan

Also..if the earth is warming up..that means we get more sun and warmer weather..i'm all for that. So lets get going with more pollution and we'll have a climate like the south of france...except without the french of course ;) :p

:)

I wonder what would nomads of Sahara say to that (I mean the sensible ones) if they knew what it's like in mild woods of England or Western/Central Europe.

Then again, we might save some of our energy resources with all the sunshine. Solar panels FTW ;)

As far as i'm concered the goverments just need more taxes, end of

Yeah..burn more fossil fuels to get more sunny weather, and then use that sunny weather to save the fossil fuels.

Sounds excellent!

Agreed with the taxes..the government is just using the green stuff as an excuse to tax us motorists to death.

The sooner the current government is out, the better.

:)

Not sure if politics are banned on this forum, think they are, but I must disagree with your belief that if this government were changed things would be better as regards taxing the motorist ,in my opinion any incoming government will not lower motoring taxation, where else would they get the money from. If in the unlikely event they did they would only "rob Peter to pay Paul"

End of political debate:exit:

hehe..i dont think i am...

Galaxy666 - agreed with the political stuff, lets end it before anyone gets into trouble! :)

Please edit your post you have given me the mark of the beast:eek:

"and concerns about the world getting warmer,
people thought that they were just being rewarded,
for mailing letters with the address of the sender,
now we can swim any day in november"

:cuckoo: Don't believe in any of this 'global warming' stuff, but this article really is taking the p***

We cannot carry on abusing our planet the way we are. What happens when the resources run out?

This post on Pistonheads always raises a smile with me

morons on another forum...who claim cars are solely responsible for climate change.
That's what you get when the BBC show car exhausts as a backdrop to global warming propaganda - the only visible thing the cars are emitting is steam but hey who cares?!

If we go and live in the True Believer world of evil plant food gas, a quick calculation might also help your alter-forum morons to realise they're full of hot air.

carbon dioxide in the atmosphere = 0.039% by volume

carbon cycle proportion of carbon dixoide contributed by mankind 3.4% (IPCC)

UK contribution to global emissions 2% (DEFRA)

Proportion of this due to cars = 16% (DEFRA again)

So cars in the UK are responsible for 16% of 2% of 3.4% of 0.039% which is precisely b****r all. Globally - just take out the 2% and it increases from b****r all to naff all.

If you go further, and consider the devil's chariot (the 4x4) then as these make up 8% of UK car sales (SMMT) then they are responsible for 8% of 16% of 2% of 3.4% of 0.039% which is the square root of b****r all.

Cars responsible for climate change

Blimey, I'm surprised you've got the strength. :D :D :D

Well my bike is stuck down the other village at the moment, so i am not very happy with that  :naughty:

But i love it when there is traffic on the roads where i cycle and i drive pass them and give them a wave, it ****es them off so bad :) But hey, i love it

One of the problems is how wasteful we are, You don't need a new car every couple of years they are perfectly capable of running for 5-10years. It's more harmful to the enviroment to manufacture a single "green" car than it is to run a land rover for life.

We cannot carry on abusing our planet the way we are. What happens when the resources run out?

go back to how people lived for thousands of years before mining and drilling was discovered?

run out of wood? thats easy. Burn the nearest person you can find wearing a Burberry cap...they seem to be in unlimited supply :)

Indeed, absolute crap, the beeb should be ashamed of themselves... yet another destructive and contradictory artical.

I not against cars, far from it, the vehicle taxing in this country is all a means to an end ...A sham of environmental action, and an excuse to steal money.

But we are doomed. :D

sounds like a good plan

Except the gulf steam will stop before that and we'll all get the chance to use our 4 x4 and snow chains instead ...

PS. I refuse to have a conversation with you p**s takers :p

Click, Oh bo**cks...

The uk is changing and if other people have not noticed then that's a shame
in 2007 I saw some changes

I voted for a racest party - mmm why?
I voted for a green party
I stated recycling
I brought a diesel car
I fitted draught excluders
I put a very very sharp nasty knife beside my bed
I starting thinking about living in another place

The UK is changing although the report that that started this thread is, well PANTS the UK is changing never theless

This is how i see it.....

People - We have this weird fetish for greed over money, land, and about everything else we can put our hands on. The only reason why the petrol prices went up was because there was an outbreak of an argument between two countries (can't remember which ones they are) one had the land that the fuel was underneath and the other one had only a little bit. So, what do they do? They think to there selfs "hmm i want to see if i can have all of the fuel that i can get my "green" hands on, but the other country will not let me. I know what i will do, i will propose war against them and fight them for it.

Electricity - We use more of this than we have to, Like leaving things on stand-by still uses electric. not turning the TV off when leaving the room uses loads of electricity which is just wasteful.

Recycling - I wouldn't put stuff like plastics in a recycling bin because, no doubt they just get treated the same as ordinary rubbish. Like put in a land fill site. If you are going to recycle, do it yourself.

Used Coke Bottles = Mini Greenhouses? Cut the top off, turn it upside down. Push the edges in to the ground around the seed. Put it in sunshine and add some water and watch it grow.

Old Computers = Garden Drink Cooling Unit? Rip the motherboard and all the other bits of hardware, lay it on it's side. Fill it with Ice box things and lay your drinks on top of them and put the metal panel back on top of it and it will keep your drinks from getting hot and keep them chilled at the same time.

You get the point don't you? :)
