been very busy recently,
i have sold the house and need to get the Jag up together as much as possible b4 we move,
so as you can understand , it doesnt leave much time for photography or forums that much ,
anywho....a few more rust repairs
this time behind the windscreen washer bottle under the offside headlight,
made a template from card , and cut out some sheet metal , folded and fettled to shape, as it isnt at all flat !!
offered up for test fitting prior to tack welding ,
then fully welded , as it forms part of the inner arch, but not fully structural , also spot welded the edges i could get to
then the welds were sealed with flexable joint sealer ( that will never fully set ) and then coverd in underseal , forgot to say , high zinc content paint was liberally aplied to the repair as well,
similar story on the nearside, but not so drastic
next , a repair to the nearside front sill behind the wing , i used an old section of bonnet for the repair panel
same old problem , rust underneath the atmospheric recovery bottle in the near side ( passenger ) wing , i need a repair panel,, ah , that will do i think , and old bit of XJS bonnet.....
made a paper template, allowed a little extra and scribed it onto the section
cut out and folded to shape...
sorry for the out of focus shot, it was getting dark and the camera didnt like it. the repair section is just offered up for a test fit, will fettle it a little more and weld in tomorrow with luck,
comments welcome as always
