I've been approached to do some lifestyle portraits for two sisters, ones 18 and the other is 16. I was approached by the 18 year old. My issue is: Does a parent need to be present during the shoot and who can sign a release to allow me to share the images on tinternet and my portfolio

I had priced this on the cheap* side - so in the back of my head I'm thinking potential reward is far outweighed by hassle and time. So I thought I'd ask TP

* Cheap because It's the first time I'd have done something like this and it would be good to gauge where I am

How did you get from client-commissioned portrait to "sharing on the web"?

It's not an automatic step, and whether it's appropriate is a very different question to his you organise the shoot.

If someone approaches you, surely the first thought is how to deliver what they want. If you've priced it cheap because you're not confident in your competence, don't now try and leverage more personal value before you check with the client they'd accept you doing that.

Assuming that 16yo girl lifestyle shoot (in the way you've described it) equals online portfolio opportunity is firmly in GWC territory.

Thanks, Great advice!

It would have been sharing on the web for promotional reasons. Thinking forward if I was to go into business.

For me, the job doesn't seem right to take on so i'll probably leave it.
