Hi all,

New here.
My name's Simon, am 32 and have been viewing for some time.

I'm hoping to relatively soon purchase my first DSLR (Probably a Canon 40d or Nikon D90), one big reason being that I'd like my camera to actually take the photo when I press the shutter release button!

I enjoy reading "Photography for Beginners" magazine and am slowly learning stuff.

I love taking macro shots of butterflies and flowers. I'd like to do more nature shots too.

I used to own a Nikon Coolpix P5100, but it was so slow. Good cameras for its time, but slow.

I currently borrow my wife's Panasonic TZ30. Good little camera, nice and clear but a DSLR will be a step up.

Welcome to TP, Simon.

Yes, the shutter lag on some cameras is a pest. Try to shoot a moving subject and end up with only half of it in the frame.
