More ebay price hikes, FV fee max up from £75 to £250

Well, eBay, its been lovely knowing you. Won't be long before it'll go the same way as iswap.co.uk. Remember that web site, when it got all random with people selling half eaten toast and drawing pins?
Selling items in your local facebook swaps/sell page seems to be the way forward now. I've just used one of those and I've managed to offload some stuff and got a bit of pocket money out of it. It doesn't always work, but you have nothing to lose if anything doesn't get sold anyway.

They are also introducing the rip off global shipping program to the UK as well, they are also going to make sellers pay return postage as well when the buyer wants a refund, ok if you sold faulty goods but not ok when the buyer changes his mind.

Good job I no longer sell much on the Bay of Evil these days.

It's a fact of life with their dominance for all the complaints it'll have minimal to no impact on the popularity of the site. It just means lower prices for the seller or inflated prices to cover the extra, my guess is the former.

It will also mean more bartering on forum sales imo for high value items. You often see people selling saying "they go for £1,000 on the bay so i'll ask £975", when in fact that £1,000 really means £900 after fees.

E-BID is always an option

had a look for macbook pro - nothing. 70-200mm - nothing... how do you get the critical mass of users on the site?

£860 if they pay with paypal and they take another 4%

5% and £10 max for me on certain items, including lenses cameras mobi's computers and some other stuff. Saying that not sure if it's gonna change under the new rules.

HOW?

Also don't forget the other big eBay/PayPal ripoff, they now also take a percentage of what you charge for postage as a fee as well so if you are honest with your postal charges you don't get enough from the buyer to pay for the postage.

Its all lose lose with the Bay of Evil these days

But, the buyer on the bay will still be paying £1000 so the that may not have the effect you mentioned.

It would for me because if i wanted something and a seller has based their price on recent ebay figures i'd be offering at least 14% less because that'd be the end value after fees to the seller.

Yes, I can see your point but if I was selling something on here (not that I ever have) I'd probably wait for an offer far closer to my asking price as long as that price was lower than other used items available elsewhere in a similar condition be that on the bay or mpb etc.

I stopped my ebay selling business a while back. Too many dishonest buyers playing the system and margins are impossibly tight after ebay/paypal fees.

I'll be shutting down my ebay account at the end of the month. It was bad enough the last round of price hikes, but now it's just ridiculous, coupled with the general decline in the site, constant glitches and the latest revamp that makes it truly terrible to use it's no longer worth bothering with.
