More cards or portable storage?

I need more storage... Not so much in general, but for a wedding shoot I have coming up. I'm uhming and ahing over whether I should go down the route of portable storage or more memory cards - as even decent memory seems awful cheap at the moment.

I reckon I only need 4-6GB of extra storage, but at ~ £20 for a 2GB card that puts me at a cost of £40-£60, which I don't think is too far off low end portable storage devices.

Any thoughts appreciated :)
 
As you say quality memory is really cheap at the moment, I think that is the way I would go, FWIW.
 
I just bought two 4 gig cards for £18 each. Supposedly 133x speed but seem to perform similar to another I have that is 52x. In any case dead cheap and plenty fast enough. MyMemory own brand.
 
Personally I'd go for the portable storage. You can always dump shots onto it and reuse the card.

I've got a bout 16GB of cards and use a flashtrax on top of that when needed.
 
As there is no really reliable storage would you chance having a days shoot on one drive/card?
 
It all depends on what you shoot. A year ago I had 2gb and a 40gb Epson p2000 that I would carry around. Now I haven't used the Epson in months, maybe 6 months. I have 2x2gb and 2x1gb cards. Never needed more.
 
I find that at weddings and events I have no time to download from cards and as I work alone most of the time I need to have a pocket full of CF's. I shoot in raw and jpeg and have got through over 10 gig in one day before now. I think when you have time to sit down and store stuff I would recommend a cheap latop rather than a storage device mainly because of the price difference is not that great and you can do so much more with the laptop than just storing images. I use mymemory for cards and sandisk are really cheap at the moment....Ian

Cheers all. Will probably end up getting a few more cards and leave it at that, but I'll research further bothe routes...
