Due to the position of the moon revelant to the earth, the moon is going to look 15% larger than normal. The next time this happens will be in 15 years time. This is in the UK

it could be the size of eamonn holmes, but I still wouldn't be able to see it as it's covered in candy floss
 
I havent been here for a while because to be honest ive lost heart :-(
So I would like soem advive for tonight. I'd love to get a good shot of the moon if there are no clouds around, so please please help me. I dont really know where to start with a pic of the moon. I have a canon 400d, a nifty fifty, a 18-55 and a 70-300.
any advice greatly appreciated

Tripod is a must, cable release if you have one, shoot manual, try various setting, I have tryed F5.6 @ 1/400 ISO 200 and it worked (even handheld), also F9 @ 1/200 ISO 100, just check on the LCD between shots.
 
There's an awful lot of moon pictures around. Has anyone managed to catch it doing something it doesn't normally do?;)
 
I keep looking at it and thinking I should get the camera out. But then I ask myself why - it's not like I can't find a picture anywhere else if I want to see it and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
 
Ah ha - but I bet you didn't have your camera with you did you? See thats exactly what I mean - those are the mood shots we need.
 
Could be a different moon getting photographed at your place then
