North England Monthly Leeds (and local meets) thoughts thread.

I reckon we should organise a group one ourselves, we sure got plenty of photos to put on show, if a event was given enough exposure then would be a success

I'd be up for that Rob. Me and Tim talked about this last week. Let's try get something sorted. [emoji106]

Hi, guys, I'm still here but me and the family have been making the most of Isabelle's school holiday. I was away last weekend, am away the weekend and away 2 weekends later :)

Il also got the go ahead from Jackie to go to Iceland next year with a few TP members.

With this in mind I have to tread carefully when mentioning to Jackie any potential meets, but I'll keep popping back

Cheers.

Iceland meet sounds great ;-)

What are you thinking? Craft fair stalls or an exhibition?

I'm happy to arrange either.

Both would interest me, i agreed with you about the craft fair but a exhibition would be great too, maybe longer than a few days too pending costs etc, i am in process in applying for a new job at yorkshire county cricket club as digital media assistant, hopefully i can get at least an interview. Hope to god i can track my uni course leader down xD no longer works at Leeds Met (Beckett).

I would be happy to design some flyers for it if we do get something sorted.

Sounds interesting.............................can we show a few plane and bird shots :D

Long story short, an internet order with a motorcycle dealer in Leek was a complete cock-up, if it had been anywhere else I'd have posted it back, but thought I'd take the unexpected opportunity to have the afternoon and evening in the Peak District :snaphappy: Visited Thors Cave, its a big old 'ole :D took quite a few record shots, I'll post some on here later. Not sure what to make of it really, I would say if your in the area its worth a look.

On to Mam tor for sunset, ok but nothing special, took a few shots that I'm hopefully going to have a first attempt at stitching into a panoramic. Then had to kill time till it was dark enough to have a go at the meteors. Ended up half way between Holme Moss and the Woodhead pass, not a lot of light pollution, got about 90 20 second shots to look through.

@Mardybum How did you get on Rich?

Fridays forecast doesn't look promising, rain most of the day, evening and into the night :banghead: so going to give it another go tonight if anyones about :)

I didn't bother stopping off anywhere phil, it was gone 11 when I left St Helens. I did think about going to The Dream as I saw signs for it, but I headed straight home for zzzzzzzzz's.

Not sure tbh Tim, don't really fancy travelling too far. On us way home last night there were quite a few star gazers up near where they do the hang-gliding at Buckstones, maybe there? I though about going back to Holme Moss ........any ideas? ......I'd like to say Northumberland, but that would be a no for tonight :D

This looks like the only one I got, but you have to look close to see it (3rd of the way up left hand side) :D I saw 3 very bright ones whilst I was there but missed all of them with the camera :banghead:.....and yes, it needs straightening :p

I was thinking Armscliffe Crag. It's not too far away. I don't fancy travelling too far myself.

Think I'm going to go up Buckstones Tim, I've started watching a couple of short-eared owls up there and tonight might be the last chance of good evening light for a few days, its just up the road from Scammy bridge, the T junction at the top.........ya fancy coming there, it'll be closer than Armscliffe for ya :)

Ok mate. Armscliffe seems to be closer for me it's not that far out of Leeds, could be because I always get lost coming to Scammy and end up going to long way :-D

What time you thinking chaps? I quite fancy scammy/buckstones as that's where I was thinking for last night before the tiredness kicked in. I've got a few bits to do before I head out but I should be done for 7.30 ish.

I'll be up there from about 7'ish Rich, I've started chasing short-eared owls now the LEO's young have fledge so I'll be trying to photo them. Theres a resi about a mile down the road towards Denshaw, it faces NW, if it's flat calm I have this daft idea I might even get on in the reflection

If you drag Tim along it'll save him getting lost :p:D

7:30 would be fine for me rich. As long as you don't mind me hitching a lift with you.

Millennium dam?? Think I know it.

Rich, the one I know is called Dowry.

Ok pal. I'm not wanting to be out after midnight especially in the dark with phil :-D :p

You don't normally complain :p

Are you bringing your light painting gear phil? @Phil-D

Tim, I'll bring an orb tool and wool spinner, but I've only got enough wool for a couple of spins, been going to buy some for months and keep forgetting .............old age is a ****er ;):D

Am off out owl hunting now, going to drop Lynn back off at home about half 8, cya's shortly :)

Why would you need pictures of a giant white penis?

* to be fair it does look very slightly less like a penis if you see it from the front rather than the back/sides.

Excellent interim meet chaps. Pleasure as always

:agree: an enjoyable couple of hours, cheers chaps (y) ............A quick glance at mine looks like I might have 2 out of 204 so not a massive hit rate :D, I thought I had 2 in one shot but a closer look showed one was a satellite

Light pollution was worse than what I thought it was up there, I've took quite a few photos up there before in the dark and its never really looked as bad.................do the summer months effect light pollution more than winter?........or is thinking that a bit blonde? :$ :D

Good meet chaps @Mardybum @Phil-D
I have not checked mine yet. Will post on Flickr when I process them.

Aye he was class - but like you say needs to find some knockout power if he wants to win a world title in style and wants to win on more than just points!

Elland Road next against that welshman selby, and yeah some serious knockout power is needed but he did boss it last night from the start. i am never usually into boxing as u know when you was listening to it on way home from lakes, mind you i spent most of travelling sleeping

Sorry chaps, I know I'm changing the subject a bit here, but the last time I watch any boxing Muhammad Ali was called Cassius Clay :) Someone explain that to Rob :p

Been up Cumbria again this weekend, around the Langdales and had a walk to Cathedral Cave. If we go back up for another meet I'd say its worth a look (y)

Its free  and open to just wonder in. Although I managed a quick photo with just Lynn in the shot, it was fairly busy but if we were to call later in the day I imagine it would be empty. Its about 10 minutes walk from Little Langdale, parking's tight but manageable, especially if we had a quick pint in the pub :D
