As a couple of you have said, qute a few of my pictures are out of focus - I think this is probably down to camera shake from my unsteady hands - how can I prevent this - would a monopod be the best way

Monopods are cheap (or can be) and easily portable, buy one and try it m8.

A monopod will help, but they can't help in every situation.

There is no substitute for good technique. Practice your stance with the camera and make sure your shutter speed is at least equal to the focal length of the lens.
Then when you're ready to take the shot, breathe out a little, hold the rest of the breath, press the shutter release and only once the shutter has closed let the rest of the breath go.

:)

Monopods are Ideal for use with longer lenses, I take one out with me if I'm going to use my 70-300 if moving around a lot and don't want to carry my tripod.

Good advice and yes a monopod will help to a degree if you have good technique.I use one occasionally and certainly get more keepers with it if the situation allows.:)

Thanks all

Will go get one before Saturday and also try the breathing technique
