should you turn the vr off on the lens when using it on a monopod ?
i know you do when using a tripod
 
I don't either, it should be pretty obvious if you need to as you can usually see the VR errors through the lens.
 
I don't and I'm re-considering my view of a blanket ban when on the tripod. :)

Confucius say yes you should !!!, but I'm sure most folk don't.:)

You don't 'have' to, but it'll be easier on your batteries at least, if your lens uses constant OIS. It's not needed in any way on a tripod, a monopod you may still get some shake. It's just a flick of a switch either way, why not just switch it off?
