Monopod

I would like some advice: I have been thinking of getting a monopot for greater mobility (I already have a tripod). I can get my hands on a new Manfrotto monopod 790B for about 29 Euros (roughly 25 pounds). Is this a valid monopod? I have a Nikon D40x, will it be compatible?

Paolo,

The 790B is quite a lightweight...spec shows a 1Kg load limit. Your D40x and 18-200 come in just over this weight (shouldn't be a problem) but there's not much future-proofing if a longer/heavier lens is in the offing.
You also need to factor in the weight of a head if you intend to use one.

FWIW, I had a 676B before I changed to Gitzos. The spec was;
154cm high, 48cm collapsed, weight 400gms and supports 4.5kg
