thinking of getting a adapter kit to the benro version, which is about 20quid, wonder if anyone here uses them? ive seen them a few times at race tracks... and would i also need to buy a head ?

im looking for smoother panning, and also it being abit more steady during lulls in shooting, so not holding it/taking as much weight through your arm as a normal pod requires when your stood waiting.

heaviest current stuff we got is a 300f4 manual russian lens thats 2kg, and a a77 with battery grip

I can't see it working too well... but I suppose it might. The YouTube video review I've just watched suggests the ball join on the foot tends to "pop".

I use a monopod a lot for 300mm and longer, but just on the floor with a plain old tilt head (locked off). Other use the belt mounted technique, which whilst I am sure is superior for a smoother action, I've never got on with it.

Lulls between shooting... rest the monopod/camera on the fence/barriers/tyres... just make sure you shorten it to a length that's a bit more stable. Carrying it around, slope arms!

lubrication fixes the pop :-), and for panning our current pod everything is solid, so your rotating on the ground, which isn't consistant... :-(

Seems to work fine for me. Watching the YouTube video, which was using it for video, I'd not exactly call the action smooth either

They are very nice for video. It could also help you with panning if you do it right considering the monopod base will be fixed. £20 is not a big investment to try out.

i imagine you may want a fluid head too or it will be awkward at times. You essentially want a proper fully kitted video monopod, and lens with a collar if shooting in portrait orientation.

Yeah the fishing belt solution is similar to what two of my fellow BLZEEBUB comrades use. Like I said earlier though, so far I've not got on with that...
