Monopod Recomendations

Hi All,

I'm looking at buying a monopod which will take my D200 + Sigma 150-500 lens.

The combo weighs approx 2700g.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I've used manfrotto 680B (cheap, indestructible) and a gitzo 5541T (expensive, amazing) for far more than 2.7kg, more like 6kg. I was very happy with the manfrotto but I wanted less weight, more max carrying power, and something that packed real short for travel. The Gitzo ticked all those boxes.
I reckon the Manfrotto (ebay, 20 quid if you're lucky) will be just the ticket.

I use the same lens and find the carbon fibre Manfrotto does the job 100% I also use a manfrotto ball head with quick relaease, great for wildlife shots

Oh that's something else I forgot to mention. I don't think you need a head on a monopod, just attach the lens foot directly to the monopod (or via a qr clamp). I've never missed having a head, I just tilt the pod, and that's with equipment weighing considerably more than what you're contemplating.
