Monitors!

I am on the look out for a monitor to hook up to the MBA/P.

I dont want to spend a load of money as I also need to buy a new DSLR and glass.

Does anyone use the Dell U2412m IPS monitor? Is it any good? I can get it for around £200.

For the same price I can also get a 27" IPS with supposedly the same panel used in the Apple cinema display.

Obviously quality will not be great as well as the aftersales! However the mac forums produce a lot of positive reviews.

Never heard of the second one, but I picked up a U2412M yesterday to use with my Macbook Pro - I love it. It's saved me buying an iMac. Do it.

There are lots of dodgy 27" IPS display sellers from Korea etc around at the moment. Some swear by them, others (me included) won't touch them. The panel is just a tiny part of what makes a panel... Coatings, internal circuitry, build, ports and most importantly warranty. Will you (be able to) send it back if you get one with a couple of dead pixels?

Im going to go for Dell IPS display. I would not like to take the risk of buying a panel which could be soldered together by some dodgy outfit.

Almost bought the Dell U2412m and then saw the offer on the 2410's with 10% on top from quidco too it made it 300 all in delivered - so 75 more and I very happy.

However the one you are looking at looks very good when I compared them at SCAN....so if funds are tight its defo a good choice.

I'm considering a current Dell Ultrasharp 2410, and have noticed that if you look through Google shopping there are several options much cheaper than going to Dell directly.

For example, is this the same thing?

I once bought a Dell laptop, considerably reduced from a non Dell supplier, and it expired prematurely (and totally).

Can anyone vouch for specific suppliers?

I got a U2412M from Scan for around £210 and its great, does everything I need and does it well.
