MONITORS - WHAT are you using

Recently changed from a Dell U2711 to a HP ZR30W
Both panels were very good out of the box but when I calibrated them with my SyderPro, it was a completely different ball game.
The Dell was slightly cool (blue) & the HP was slightly warm (yellow).
I have found the SpyderPro a very handy tool & have used it on ALL my computers (including laptops)
I found it a very good investment, especially as I spent a lot on monitors

I utilise a Dell U2711 and HP ZR24w both have been very good straight out of the box. The only thing I've needed to do was turn the Dell's brightness down a bit before being comfortable to work with.

Would happily recommend either.

I calibrate my TVs (the ones that have enough controls in the menu to do that) with my Eye-one....

Well opted for a pair of Dells direct from Dell - they ahve a big discount of their ott price at the moment - then found an extra 10% off code and to top it all got another 11% off through quidco making the new monitors at 297.00 each delivered........

Now just have to build the pc they are going to be attached to......its been an expensive week.....

However 3tb drives are cheap aren't they:lol:

Has anyone purchased the Apple Thunderbolt display yet?

Unless you need the daisychaining of Thunderbolt then get another screen. Dell use the same panel and have both a CCFL tubed version 2711 and LED backlit one 2713 for your peruse. Samsung also have a very good LED backlit PLS (their own brand IPS) monitor.

Unfortunately they all have their faults. the 2711 has a very strong antiglare coating and USB 2, the 2713 doesn't have the wide gamut (only full sRGB - may be a positive) but does have USB3 ports and the Samsung S27A850D has no HDMI port (but a cheap adaptor may work?) and only has a standard Gamut. Both the LED backlit versions are significantly thinner, let out less heat and are less power consuming too.

AOC 23" IPS LED which I find surprisingly good - better than my Dell monitor. When viewed against all the other monitors at PC World it stood out a mile and the price made it too tempting. Hopefully it will be reliable as well.

I still use a 22" CRT monitor which I bought years ago from a computer fair for £90.00.

Heavy as hell but still gives me excellent results and I dread the day I have to try and find a good LED or LCD monitor.
