Hi all, I am upgrading to a 22" monitor ( I have a dual display with a 19" & 15", freeing up 15" for son's PS2) and have a budget of £175-£200.

Any makes you would recommend? - I am currently using HP but they were part of a bundled HP PC through a special scheme with Hubby's work 3 yrs ago. They're LCD and have done an ok job for family use, but now I need something more serious for the photography.

I've joined a photoclub, started a 365 project on a blog, am practicing and reading a lot, and hubby says he wants to further my learning curve by letting me spend some money on more kit.:D

(I think he is thinking speculate to accumulate, hoping I'll get some income rolling in sooner rather than later! LOL!)

Any suggestions welcome, please and thanking you. :)

in that price bracket i'd go for a samsung

however your monitor is nigh on useless unless calibrated imho :)

Dell s2209w - current around £149 from Dixons, Curry, etc.

I've just bought a Dell S2209W and can thoroughly recommend it. It doesn't rotate or have a USB hub, but is very good. :)

Dell Monitors are great. I have 2 dell 2005fpw panels.

Im now looking at getting a dell 30 inch panel to go in between the 2 20`s :D Just need a grand from somewhere and a 4870x2 to power it lol

Bought 3

I was going to recommend a samsung as i have had a few of them, but after reading about the dell in the link above i would love one of them.:D:thumbs:

Well, just to update I've got them installed now and they are superb!

Resolution is 2048x1152, built in microphone and webcam in a very modern design. Really chuffed.

There are heaps of settings so might take a while to get fully tuned in.

Stonking buy for £199 delivered!

I would recommend in your price range to try and see if you can find a Dell 2007WFP for sale anywhere. It is an S-IPS pannel, and one of the few 8 bit screens available in your price range.

Fact of the matter is that all these cheaper 23-24 inch screens, with their low viewing angles, are not very suited to serious colour work.

If you want to do it on the cheap, then just get a monitor calibrator for your current monitor. TN technology has gotten better over the last two years, but their viewing anglese seem to have gotten worse.

Dell 2007WFP, that's what I've just replaced!

You make it sound like I've committed a cardinal sin!

My old screens were 2 years old, no hdmi port, no webcam, 20'' not 23'' and have a list of functions I will probably never use.

To be quite honest I think the screen quality is better but what do I know, I need specs for readiing so my eyesight isn't that good.

So on the basis that my old screens were £174 +vat, is it not reasonable to think my new ones should be better considering technology advances and all that!

Anyway, we're hijacking someones thread.
