Monitor profiling?

I have a n X-Rite Eye-One which I use to profile my Lacie CRT monitor, The Lacie has a number of preset white balance options including warm white, cool white & native white, or I can choose from a number of preset Kelvin settings.

Can anyone advise which (if any) of the above methods and or settings (i.e. 6500K) would be the best to use?

I use 6500K settings when setting the monitor white point. This does to approximate Northern Europe daylight. You may find though that what the monitor manufacturer thinks is 6500K and what your Eye-One tells you are different. You may have to go into the user control panel on the monitor and set the correct levels of R,G,B individually.

I've always just used the native white point, but with all the other options I'm wondering if there's and industry standard (or recommended) white point which is more suitable for post processing than the others.
