Recently, I've been pondering the question "Do I work to live or live to work?".

Obviously I would like to think that I work to live, but recently, I'm thinking I might actually be living to work!

Every week, I look forward to the weekend, and every weekend, I look forward to the week. :cuckoo: Mostly because I don't really have much to do, and when I'm not working, I'm spending money. :nono:

So what about you? And what are your thoughts on this matter?

Well, the termination I experienced in April has, indeed turned out to be the best thing to happen to me since meeting my wife, Jill ... :D

I am more relaxed, enjoy every single day as if it was the weekend and ... having decided to go freelance I have discovered I am actually in demand ...

... consequently I can now earn more in the three days I am currently working than I was when doing full time ... ... and thoroughly NOT enjoying it before I was terminated ... ... and I do it at home to boot ... ;)

So ... as others said here and elsewhere at the time ... don't worry Rog ... something will turn up and you will be much better off ... :suspect:

It did ... and I am ... ;)

:p

Currently, I live for the weekends although work is not too bad, I do seem to spend a lot of time there. I am ebbing towards working with my camera but I am realistic and will see what happens. I quite enjoy my job in the real world but its far from ideal.

Not in today though as simply cannot walk! So chilling, in bed with the internet on my 26" LCD. Lovely job! :)

work to live, unfortunately

Bit of both if I'm honest. Self employed in a business which pays the bills and funds some new toys every now and again but needs a lot of input in time. Regularly take home work and spend a couple of hours in the evening catching up on the stuff which is important but not essential. Got plenty of selfish "Me" time at the weekends which are generally spent either out with the camera or helping the wife with the horses.

Usually the problem is fitting everything I want and need to do into the time rather than thinking about how I'm going to fill it.

Work to live, don't enjoy my job anymore, would love to leave and do something different. Have a couple of good ideas in the pipeline at the moment so hopefully soon i can give up and be self employed.

Isn't living to work more unfortunate?

I work to live, spend the least amount of time here as possible. But then I also enjoy what I do, not every day and every job, but in the main I could do a lot worse.

But then I usually leave work at about 4pm and then have a 15 minute cycle ride home so can't complain on that either. I is lucky and I know it.
:)

A bit of both for me. I'm inbetween jobs at the mo as I've just left my last job and I'm having a few weeks off before I start the next one (same job, different hospital :) ). When I'm at work, I look forward to having time off, but then when I get time off, I get bored really quickly and can't wait to go back to work

I work to live and always will do. I do a job that is interesting, varied and involves my photography which I love, but ultimately, it's a means to an end and for me it'd be the same with any job. If I didn't have to, I'd quite happily never do another days work in my life!

Work to Live here as well.

Got made redundant late last year and did a rather massive career change.

Self employed now on less money and the jobs not as enjoyable but it does give me a more flexible life for the kids etc.

Don't mean to spam up the forum but if anyone is genuinely interested to find out how to make more money playing than working full time then shoot me a private message.

How do you good people think I can afford these toys on a cop's salary with the exchange rate making me pay "12-13 times" what you folks pay?

hmmm....good point!

As you get older you realise that there is more behind you than in front, you only get one chance at today and today may be your last. Wether its working to live or liveing to work I dont know, I just try to enjoy the day whatever Im doing, get done what must be done then do what you want to do. I will never be rich but aim to be contented. The worse the man can do is sack me and it wont be the first time, life is too short for hassel.
All the best PaulG.
