Yes
Post Election / SNP in Scotland / London Protests..................

The election is over - SNP are what they are - yes the Tories got a majority - indyref will do whatever - numbers are what they are and it's all done and dusted. It's all the same guff.

Can we have one thread ?

I appreciate it's a hard topic to consolidate but there's so much duplication going on.

Thanks in advance.

Yea!!!

I vote for @dinners

Seriously, I agree there are a number of different threads on the go with the same people arguing the toss about the same things in each of them.

Whilst that represents 100% of the votes so far, it will only provide a single seat.

Can we have one <insert anything here> thread?? ;)

If you want want to read, move on :)

Agreed, if you don't want to read or post in a Thread, don't!

Why don't we just have one thread title Nikon instead of one each for the D800. D4, D7100, etc...

While I think it's a good idea, I also agree that it could get very very messy . I'll flag it in the staff room for discussion,

I do wish to read and I do wish to post.

Whilst the thread titles imply different topics - the reality is we've now got 3 threads covering the same conversation.

Why do people have to be arses about someone making a reasonable request? If you dont want to read the request, don't. Just "move on" as one of you put it. There doesn't need to be three threads to demonstrate how some members don't understand how the voting system works, how unhappy some are and how smug others are.

So we should move on, but those with an issue shouldn't? ;)

I would up you one, Phil and suggest NO political threads but, for some reason, the powers that be seem intent on having them:rolleyes:

Only one thread on the other hand, would be virtually impossible to follow.

I reckon they'll die off in a few days naturally as the election grows old.

Fully agree with steep. It is a temporary thing these now four threads.

One thread, good! But what should we call our one thread?

The Talk Photography Politics Thread? The Peoples' Thread for Politics on TP? The Political Peoples' Thread on TP? The Why Can't the Government Do More for Me Thread?

Or should we just call it Sod Steep and ST4? :p

Or better still get TP back to where it was before Political discussions were allowed and go back to the old rule "No Politics", TP was a far more friendlier place back then. There is too much anti Scottish/English or whatever else being obvious in some recent posts. I admit to being suckered in to a post or two as well before anyone comments. Quite a number of TP members including some staff I had respect for has now been lost because of their constant snide remarks because we may supprt a party that they dislike.

If TP must keep the political guff then create a separate passworded forum available on request and keep it all in there, and folk can slag each others political views until their hearts content. Leave the rest of the TP forums looking more friendly again, if that's possible.

To be honest, I'm glad some of my suspicions of people have been justified by recent posts. I personally will be making even less of a contribution while those people are allowed to pollute the forum, not that anyone cares.

Its called Out of Focus for a reason, we generally discuss topics other than photography in here.

Despite your grumbling I see you've contributed to all three threads your complaining about!

Personally, I prefer the mods to restricting what can or cannot be posted and not other members who contribute anyway but then complain when others do.

In effect it has got very messy. Now got three messy threads about the same multiple subjects. Perhaps, if the messes could be confined to one thread then folk would get tired of it sooner and it would come to a natural messy conclusion sooner.

Not sure if you were referring to me but if you were - I have indeed (despite the confusion and duplication) contributed to all three threads and that's my reason for suggesting we have one.

The Peoples Front for the Liberation of Threads.

I think merging them would cause confusion. Confusion leads to discord. Discord leads to grumpy Mods not getting quality jaffa time. Nobody wants that.

I think a better option would simply be to lock all but one of the threads, and instruct people to post in the 'main' (or a new) one. Nip any new ones in the bud.

Problem is the subject creeps into threads that weren't originally started as them and it takes over :(
These threads could continue on topic not be locked

May be we should stick to the rules and have zero political threads ... the alternative lets discuss as if we are reasonable adults approach is bound to end in tears ad ban hammer based on past performance

As someone who has no interest whatsoever in the rubbish spouted in these threads I still don't see any reason for not allowing them, I just don't bother with them.
The subject line normally tells me it's going to be political so I avoid them, only time I hate it is when they get dragged into other threads that I may be participating in
sometimes if everyone ignores them they go away and things get back on topic

That hasn't been a rule here for a while now

good point well made - though i would have said discussion of nigel farrage falls under "anything else that isnt nice"

Maybe we should have a 'politics' tag and ban politics from any thread not tagged it by the OP.
Then everyone's wishes are catered for?

Funnily enough those threads do get a decent number of views and participation. Can only be good for advertising and revenues surely.
