Hi All,
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but here goes anyway.
My sixteen year old granddaughter is keen to get into modelling, she has the looks and figure required, but she needs some experience, and I wondered if there were any camera clubs in the Bramhall/Wilmslow area of Cheshire who might be prepared to use her as a model.
Obviously, as a complete novice I shouldn't think there would be any question of a fee from her side as a professional would charge, but perhaps in exchange members might be prepared to let her have prints for a portfolio.
I live in a different part of the country unfortunately so am unable to help her, even if I had studio equipment, but I think a club would be a good way for her to gain some experience and at the same time providing members with an opportunity to have an inexpensive modelling evening. Obviously at her age I am not thinking of any type of glamour photography.
Any suggestions, which I will pass on to my son will be welcome.
Cheers,
Ken

Ask her to try the pro shops that do training, they might be on the look out for new models for then to train other people with.
I know the guy I go too has a few young wanna be models

There is one that runs in Poynton regularly. However, a 16yr old model causes photographers a nightmare as they are still technically a minor and along with having a parent / guardian present and signing the model release the photographer has to be very careful about the shots taken as any possible sexually implicit poses must be avoided, else they could be classed as child porn (even without any nudity).

Thanks everybody,
A few good tips there, I will pass it all on to my son.
(PS I don't think there will be any doubt about my son or daughter-in-law wanting to be present!!)
Cheers,
Ken

If your daughter is serious about becoming a model, you don't need to take her to a photographer. Grab any cheap old camera, even an iphone will do, and take a picture of her in broad daylight. Send the shots to as many agencies as possible, and they will find the photographers for you.

The problem with looking for photographers is that you will mostly encounter keen amateurs who'll make her look terrible. If you're serious about her getting work, you'll need to be sending in shots with no makeup (or very little) and no retouching.
