Mobile Phone Networks - Which ones are OK?

Following on from my recent "HTC - HD2" thread from which I think I've decided to wait for the HTC Desire that comes out in a couple of weeks, after shopping around for the best deals it looks like to get the best value I may have to chance from O2 to another network.

However, as with everything technical there is always someone that will slag off everything. I've heard people say avoid T-Mobile like the plague and the same of 3 and Vodaphone. I've been with O2 for over 5 years and never had a single issue with them but with all contracts covering anynetwork these days does it really matter which one you are on?

So what are your opinions of the mobile network you are on? I've been with O2 for years, never had a problem with the coverage and never had a problem with the customer services.
 
Unfortunately Rob, I'm also 02 and have been since time began, or at least it feels that way. As you say, I have never had a reason to move as coverage and customer services have been great.

Have you spoken with them explaining you are a long term customer and if they can try to match whatever other deal it is you have seen?
 
I'm with Orange and always have been. I'm a very light user (PAYG, about £20 per annum!) so coverage was more important to me than call costs etc and Orange were best around here when I got my first mobile. Never needed customer services so can't comment on that aspect of them. The only time I get coverage problems is NYE at midnight when (AFAIK) all the networks are swamped!
 
I believe T mobile's reception is great if you live south of Birmingham, but it's a bit pants generally speaking 'oop north'!!
 
I was with Vodafone for about 10 years and always got a good signal, I then moved house (only 1 mile from my old house) and Vodafone got zero signal so switched to T-Mobile and found the coverage possibly better than Vodafone. Then last year T-Mobile removed their mask from Godalming, where I work so I got no signal, so I switched to Orange and get a great signal, particular good 3G coverage.
 
Always had issues with Orange years back, switched to Vodafone and never had a problem, been with them around 4/5 years now
 
I'm with Vodafone and I've never had a problem (apart from when expecting delivery of my N900 recently) and I've been with them since I was 18, so nearly 6 years.

English call centres and the customer services are always willing to help. Get pretty decent signal everywhere.

To be honest, I've always seen the 2 flagship networks in the UK as o2 and Vodafone - then the smaller networks like Orange and T-mobile behind.

It's also abysmal down here. Our company phones were all switched from O2 to T mobile a while ago. With O2 we rarely got any dead areas. There's times now when I'm out of contact all day.
 
Asda mobile! Done through Vodaphone. 8 pence PM calls. 4 pence per text!
Great coverage up North!!

Forgot to add 20pence per mgb

I have had Orange, was ok but not great. Then moved on to O2 a few years back. Never a problem with the signal.
Other half joined T-Mobile a couple of months ago and now I can never get hold of him. He never seems to have a decent signal.
 
Dont think theres any network that really covers every where. I have Orange contract phone there 3g network is meant to be one of the best, although theres areas i struggle with coverage. But a small tip i have found out if you have a 3g phone switching it 2 GSM mode can often resolve the case.

I also have a O2 PAYG chip, the network coverage on that seems better tbh although still not full proof, but generally i get a reception on one or the other so i can normal recieve calls, or make them if upsolutely necessory. O2 seem more expensive though, but Mums with them and is the only one there to get coverage brother with 3 lives with mum, has no problems except very poor coverage at home. They have Virgin too cheaply due to tv etc, that get poor coverage there but great every else.
 
I was with o2 from the day they changed over from BT Cellnet. I changed to 3 nearly three years ago (because o2 would not do the N95 at the time) and it was the worst thing I ever done.. Very poor signal and even worse customer service..

Just changed back to o2 :)
 
Been on o2 for years, no reason to change tbh, never had any issues with them..
 
T-Mobile's reception is terrible, I should know as i've been daft enouigh to have about 3 18month contracts with them.
