Hi guys this is where I'm at. I've always used Android since my first smart phone, HTC Magic. I couldn't make a decision on a new phone or network just over a year ago so I purchased a Vodafone Smart Ultra 6, which to be fair at £100 is excellent value. Also took out a 12m contract with O2.

O2 have just offered me unlimited text/minutes and 10gb of 4G data for £18pm. Which appears pretty good.
Of all the providers I've used in the past O2 has given me the best reception at home. But I'm finding 3/4G coverage at work is a bit hit and miss, O2 say this should be excellent in that location. Could be the phone.

TBH I'm getting a bit fed up of Android and its personal info peddling apps and its pushiness.

Been looking at new phones and am being tempted to the dark side. I want a solid performing handset, that connects and stays connected to 3/4G, no too worried about apps most I use is phone, text, calendar, handful of simple games, browser ( happy using the browser for sky, flickr, eBay etc)

I want something with great battery life, phablet size, good screen, 3.5mm headphone socket :p and of course an amazing camera. Also needs to be a decent price.

So what are your experiences of the different mobile os out there. Android, IOS or Windows 10.

In the Android camp O2 have the OnePlus 3 and soon to be launched latest Google phones Pixel XL?

IOS O2 have the iPhone 6S Plus 128gb (as new) (had an iPod 3rd gen nano, loved it but hated iTunes.

And Windoze there's the 950XL. Removable battery, SD slot. Doesn't look much but there are plenty of custom backs for it.

Objective opinions please, if possible;), thanks.

in terms of android phones my choices would be Samsung S7 or HTC Ten right now... my upgrade is next month, so this is what im looking at right now :)

used mobiles.co.uk for last 3 contracts, and they were great for the deals (I'm on O2 too btw)

I used mobiles.co.uk to get my wife's Galaxy S7 £25pm over 2 years on EE with the free Samsung VR glasses. I think we might have paid about £40 upfront on preorder, but then got £30 back on Quidco......no deals like this now.

I've got a Nokia 930 running Windows 10, I've got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running Android, and both are in a cupboard for my iPhone 7 Plus. If I'm honest I'd want to use Windows 10, I really like it, but despite NFC can't do payment in shops or Oyster, and its just missing software like my banking apps etc. Great platform but alas no. Android is just not for me, the flagship phone is great, but just doesnt feel fast enough, still cause crashes, battery isn't that strong. If you like to tinker its great, but if you want to rely on it working 100% all the time it just doesn't in my experience with many apps crashing. Also doesn't connect through my wifi as quick weirdly. iOS10 I really like, not as sleek as Windows 10 but very good indeed, everything just works and integrates, and the phone is lightning quick. Nice to be back.

It is interesting to see the love for Windows 10 as a mobile OS. I agree that it is slick, stable and intuitive to use. It's just a pity it never achieved critical mass. Until recently it didn't matter that it didn't have the sheer number of apps available as on iOS and Android as all the major bases were covered. Recently it seems that there isn't any further development with many mainstream apps or they are no longer available. For example there is no longer a functioning Flickr app, either official or third party.

It's a shame. It looks like we are now limited to just two phone OSs in the future.

Windows phones are the new Blackberry, integration with work email and Windows is great - I really rather like mine and if I ran Windows at home I would seriously consider one as a personal phone.

But I don't, I use Mac so have an iPhone, iOS10 is rather good too - it adds lots of little features that makes usability much better.

From the Samsung Flavour of Android and moving to IOS was a revelation, as the man said it just works, Hurrah at last a system that feels good.

Printer connection worked out of the box, no multiple attempts and then gave up.

Car Bluetooth connects every time, not hit and miss and reset.

Sorry, to many pluses to continue, just say it feels that this is how a Mobile should work. (Shame about the cost of the Phone)

@dejongj is your 930 for sale?
I should really :) But be careful, it is the Dutch version albeit being a UK model. It is very bright Orange. Was bought unlocked. I'll see if I can get a for sale thread up as I should really sell my 930 and my S7 Edge.

To be fair a Samsung S7 Edge or Note 7 is really in the same price bracket. But yes it is a lot of money for either.

Thanks for the replies. The biggest bugbear of many towards the Windows platform appears to be the lack of apps. TBH that doesn't concern me, only use phone, text, camera, email, browser, eBay, mybidder, sky go and a couple simple word or puzzle games.

As I have a Win 10 PC it makes sense that if I move away from Android that might be the best way to go. I'd love to have the money to buy into the whole Apple thing, iPhone, iPad air, Mac PC...........but I'd sooner spend my cash on lenses.

I wonder if as the Lumia 950 has a USB-C connection if it is possible to use a USB card reader to upload photos whilst traveling.

Give me a shout when you're selling. How do you find the camera?

930 Camera is Ace fantastic resolution.
S7 Edge camera absolutely fantastic
IPhone 7 Plus the bokeh is amazing and it is so natural.

All three are absolutely fantastic, you won't regret any of them.
