Yes
I have a Nokia C3-01, it is set to "Dual" coverage, so I get GSM & 3G, the problem is when set like this it will drop the connection mid conversation, and it is getting rather annoying.

If I set it to "GSM" rather than "Dual" it is fine.

Am I correct in thinking that I only need 3G if I want to use the phone to connect to the internet, as I do not go online with the phone I am more than happy to leave it set on "GSM" as it seems more stable this way.

Answers from the the youngsters on here who understand this stuff better than me would be welcome :D

Yeah, if you're using it for voice calls only, there's no reason to leave 3G on.
Plus you'll get better battery life too.

I had a similar issue with my N8, turned out that it was down to the default network selection was set to auto, when I set it to manual and chose my network it stopped.

Cheers, I had put it on auto when I was away the other week, just switched back to manual

That should do it, had exactly the same on three nokia handsets, seems to be a trait of theirs...

To be honest, i only use 3G for stuff like Youtube - for normal browsing (google, facebook etc.) GSM (probably aGSM) is fine.
