So currently I am using 2 off-camera flashes, and an on camera flash. I would like to add a third-off camera, but, for the price of a 'decent' flash, I could get three ebay 'studio' strobes with softboxes and umbrellas and background, or two 'decent' studio lights with umbrellas.
If I were to go for the two 'decent' studio lights, although it isn't ideal, could I easily mix and match these with my current flashes?
I use the Canon 7d as a 'controller' and one remote flash in canon wireless, and one Yongunuo flash in S1 mode (delayed flash after pre-flash). (The advantage of this mode, is that although the camera commands the flash by flashing, it doesn't have to have a flash in the image).
I believe that most studio lamps have a 'flash on flash' option, do they have a similar delayed/ignore pre-flash option?
Or would I need to get two more wireless triggers just to use the speedlights? I suspect that to begin with, I would use the speedlights as just background lighting, if I can afford a background. (although with three studio lights I would rather do something more creative).
This is just for fun portraits of my child and family (as the baby is quite young, waiting is 'painful' with missed oportunities
)
