Is there any software on the market that could allow to make a mix tape (mp3) with minimal effort for a party...has to go on a USB stick..thanks in advance

Software? Can't you just download the tracks and stick them on....the stick?

I could...but I want them to play seamlessly non stop....it is for my son's twenty first birthday...and I don't have time to be the dj. ..:D

so you just want a player to cross fade the tracks? can be a bit hit or miss what with irregular gaps at the start and end of tracks, but I think the regular players will do it .... but maybe not

Just use Apple iTunes Music. Free three months trial and some amazing mixes on the Beats channel :)

Alternatively, I have not used it though!, try this http://www.mixxx.org/

It says it can auto DJ, integrate with iTunes etc...

I'm sure there's plenty of software out there that can auto mix tracks, but as a DJ myself I'm pretty sure it'll sound like a train wreck to the trained ear ;) To the average party goer I'm sure they wouldn't even notice :p

I had my music to mix and it sounds crap lol. Best bet is to get a dj set and download that. No software needed and will be good on the ear.

We need another group like s club 7 again. All you had to do was put their album on and let it play :p
Yup. Nothing quicker at getting lingerers to vacate your property when you want to go to bed.

Barry White is pretty good as well, and me going around the room asking the ladies for a slow dance :)

In the disco days it was easy. Just put on Donna Summer's last dance and that was it.

I use winamp, but I don't think it has a cross fade facility.
Something else you might have to consider is the volume of each track, as you may find some way lower in the mix than others ;)

If it's your son's birthday, your primary concern should be how to cause him as much embarrassment in front of his mates as possible.

So grab that mic and start crooning.

Forget the crooning...dad dancing all the way

I've used Audacious at a few parties . It's has cross fade, and a few other useful options. It's a small, simple, low key program. But it does the job. Set up some playlists and just set it going and it'll play all night.
It's free and open source too. Http://audacious-media-player.org/
