Like mad since I had all my gear stolen. Unfortunately, it's has come to light that we weren't insured for contents (long story).
In the meantime, a good friend of mine has offered me to borrow his 350D with 18-55 kit until I can get my own gear replaced which I thought was very kind of him. I was planning on shooting some outdoor maternity stuff with the wife before my camera got stolen, so at least now with the 350D loan I can still get the shots.

I will eventually be replacing my own equipment, with a bit of an upgrade as well hopefully. My old body was a 400D. So I was wondering what people's thoughts were for a good (not mega expensive) upgrade ? I'd prefer to stick to canon, and would like the screen view option as well as the view finder option.

Many thanks for any advice.

Rich

Canon 60d - a definite upgrade on your old body, has the flip out screen and now fairly cheap (can get one around £400)

When its out, the 60D is a great camera for the money, in my opinion better than the 7D

noticed a 40d for sale on here for £250, has live view and is an upgrade on your 400, I had one as a second body

Nice one, I'll have a look at one. That must be 400 second hand yeah ?

If you are looking around £400, there is a nearly new 700D in the classifieds, (which is the most direct upgrade from your 400D and one of the newest bodies on the market).

Just checked classifieds and there's a 60D for 480, but one sold before that for 375 delivered, so within budget if you can wait for the right one.

gutted for you and the loss of your gear hope you get sorted soon

Just seen digital rev are doing the 650 for 375 today in the trade section, no personal experience and its an import, but again within budget.

Anyway, I hope you get things back to normal soon.

The heart sinks a bit when you read about these situations.
Hopefully you will recover your kit, you never know
Glad to hear some members are offering help as that was my initial instinct (to look and see if you were local) but you shoot THAT brand :-)
Kidding aside, all the best in getting back shooting soon

I'm pretty sure that wiki has that list, I tried looking for you but I'm getting the mobile version which is a bit odd

Edit: cheers Dave

Appreciated all the same. Many thanks Bruce.

And yeah, you never know, the camera gear may get returned.......... Knowing my luck, it'll be the day after I eventually get some new kit !!!!! Ha

Did you have the serial numbers of the kit, if so I suggest you post it on the sticky on this forum. No reason to make it too easy for the sticky fingered b*****ds to sell it on.

I know how it feels to get your equipment stolen you have my sympathy. Fortunately when it happened to me recently I was insured but you still lose the excess payment and all the bits and pieces you have collected over the years. For me I reckon I am still down by about £500!

Yeah I keep meaning to add the gear with serial numbers to the forum stickie, I'll do it this weekend.

Thanks.
