I'm looking into something to complement my 5D and I'm interested in the mirrorless cameras that are the rage at the moment.

I like the look of the Sony NEX-5N, but the other thing I'd like to do is use my other lenses on it. Are there adapters for the likes of M42 and Leica R mount lenses?

Is the Sony the best one for this sort of thing?

you can mount other lens onto the Sony NEX 5N, my friend have one and he been mounting M42 lens, Canon and nikon lens.

Note that with eos lenses you don't get an aperture ring on the lens, that'll mean that you wont be able to change the aperture on CSC.

In that case all you'll need is the right adapter and you'll be away and shooting.

It might be worth Googling your way to any reviews / example shots of the camera and lens combinations you are interested in though, if it'll affect your decisions, as from what I've seen and read some legacy lenses don't perform well on modern digital CSC's.

The thing is, I have a fair few lenses 'kicking around' so if some of them work well and some not so well that's fine.

Is the Sony held as the general king of the hill in that sort of price range?

You can get a Leica R adapter for the Sony, I use an M one for my NEX-5 that works well. The NEX-7 will be the 'king of the hill' when it comes out in a few months after the flood delays, right now the NEX-5N is your best bet.

I've just bought the nex 5n and although I'm new to 'proper' photography the pictures it takes are amazing. Been testing it loads in really low light and the picture quality is just bloody brilliant. :-)

The adaptor for the camera is about £200, but there are other adaptors available.

Nex7 will have same sensor, higher MP and an electric viewfinder and be £400 more pennies - depending on where you buy from.
