Hi Guys this is my first posting which seems a really dumb one but here goes. I have just gathered all cleaning gear (and bottle) together to clean my sensor. I checked the manual for how to keep the shutter open while doing this. The manual says go to set up menu and select Mirror lock up BUT IT ISNT THERE honestly - ive looked right through the menu in case its secreted somewhere else. Has anyone else got a D40x and if so do you know where this control is hidden please. Cheers in advance

Its in the setup menu (the one with the spanner) near the bottom above the firmware version

Are you really sure you want to do it. It seems a bit risky to me from what I've read. I think it's better to have a few dust bunnies and get rid of them after in Photoshop than wreck my camera.

Hi Banath thanks for getting back to my posting so quick.
here are two shots of all there is on the Set up menu.

Ive sent them up to my google space.

Any help would be appreciated Cheers?

In the setup menu select CSM/Setup menu then select "Full" I think you have yours set to simple which will not allow you to see some of the options

Thanks Banath you're a star
I said it was probably something dumb on my part.
I should learn how to use this thing soon

Remember to fully charge your battery before attempting to clean the sensor. I'd also suggest trying something like a Giottos Rocket Blower before attacking the sensor with a cleaning kit....
