Mirror lens on a Nikon

Hi Guys and Gals

I am looking at getting a Mirror lens (prob 800-1000mm) when I have a wee bit more money, just for taking pictures of the moon and stuff.

Have any of you got a mirror lens and any examples you can show of pictures taken with it?

I haven't used one but I believe they are very poor quality.

Never had one either, but have heard plenty adverse comments about them.

I have Tamron 500 f8 and its ok but lacks a bit of contrast compaired to a normal lens and suffer from OOF donuts effects.

They are cheap enough to buy now but dont expect it to be as good as a 500mm f4 Nikkor

thanks guys, to be honest it's mostly going to be for moon / space shots, and possibly a few terrestrial shots, not many. I'm thinking for the price difference and it's intended use, i'll go with the mirror over the Nikkor 500mm ;-)
