Picked one of these up off ebay, older SCSI film scanner as a better solution than having the local jessops do my scanning. I have an old Pentium 4 PC with XP on it which I'm trying to use. The scsi card is recognised but the scanner is not! I have it set to termination on and I've tried giving it ID '0' and '1' but it cannot be seen by either the minolta software or vuescan under XP and ubuntu for vuescan.

any advice? I'm feeling rather miffed with it at the moment.

in the distant past SCUSSI minoltas require a SCCSI socket on the motherboard. XP boards do not have them. Forgive me if I am wrong.

classicams: it comes with a PCI SCSI board for the interface.

TheBigYin: The software with it is V1.01 which would suggest it is not XP compatible firmware (will dig out a '98 install CD and see if that works next) but the ebay ad claimed it was running on XP???

Thanks for the link, trying the new driver first.

I assume you have the SCSI chain correctly terminated?

edit: strike that - I just noticed you said you had.

Hasn't Joxby posted about having the same issues a while back? Definately remember reading something about SCSIs. Perhaps do a search and send him a PM.

sorted...

new driver sorted it all out under xp. here is a picture of a chilli (my first scan) to show my appreciation

need to learn to clean my negs now :)

CS5 / healing brush set to "content aware" sampling sorts most dust spots. Sometimes it fails badly - it's not at it's best on hairs/strands - when the clone stamp comes into its own.

Cheers for all the advice. I'll spend some quality time scanning now :)

keep my mind of having just sent the EOS-1V back to my dad, my 20D is SOOOOO slow in comparison.
