Hi There,
I wonder if anyone out there can give some advice. I am trying to set up a home studio. I will be photographing posed dancing shots mainly including two people. Before I start to lash out on all the lighting etc, I need to know if it is a feasible project. Room sizes are obviously limited but distance from subjects is not really a problem as the room available is quite long. What I am worried about is the minimum width of room needed, taking into account the distance the lights would need to be apart in order to give a pleasing effect.

I am totally new to studio lighting and set up so any advice would be appreciated....

It would help to know what main lens you intend on using for this.

You should have at least three feet of space between the models and the wall/backdrop.

Try placing someone about three feet away from the far wall and see if you can get all of them in the shot.

Sorry about not specifying the focal length of the lenses I will be using. The main one will probably be a 70-200 but I also have a 17-55. I use a Nikon D200 so obviously I have a 1.5X Conversion on focal length. However, it's mainly the width of space needed. What I mean by that is that I think I may struggle to get a decent angle of light onto the subject. You see I don't know how near to straight-on the lighting can be before it is useless. Thanks anyway for reply...
