I'm off to Turkey next week for a well deserved 6 days, I am packing the humble FE2 with some assorted fillums and a tripod.

One of the things I am looking forward to is running a IR film with the IR filter as there must be some blimmin sun out there !

No sun there mate.........it's all here ......in France!:D

@Asha my FE2 should meter ok with an IR72 filter on will it not? it will just drop by about 4 stops?

I have two rolls of the Rollei 400 IR

EDIT : I just found the original thread, shoot it at 12-25 ISO
I will take my Sekonic 308.

Tbh Paul i have not shot IR film .....i planned on dbbling a couple of years back and still have a roll of film rattling about in thé fridge, probably ood now like most of m'y film! Lol

As you know the FE2 will meter thru thé lens so if you stick a filter infront then it will affect thé metering accordingly.

If the film is specific in what asa it has to be shot at then taking your 308 and going full manual on the camera is probably your best option.

Have fun!

Done a bit of googling and quite a few folk have run it lower even down to ISO 3 and got great results.
I think I will do some through the camera tests over the next few days with/without filter on and see what the FE2 says and compare it with the Sekonic.

I shot a few rolls of Rollei IR 400 with an R72 @ iso 12, on a bright sunny day the exposure was pretty good, I used my camera to meter, which at the time was an RF so it didn't meter ttl, so I set iso on the camera to 25, metered, then doubled the indicated shutter speed.
If the meter is good on the FE, you could do the same, meter iso 25 without the R72, double the shutter speed then screw the R72 on, its faffin a bit screwing the filter on and off but the FE with have an iso 25 setting..:)

Just ran a few tests and it seems to be reading very low with the filter, looks as much as 7 stops below without filter.
I think I will take a few with the built in metre and some with the sekonic and make a few notes, it will be the first of these films i have ever shot.

I would do that if i was going to do the whole roll IR but I will also do some plain B and W as I am lead to believe it is good for that as well.

The images in this flickr album - https://www.flickr.com/photos/landscapepics/sets/72157650787951273 - were all taken at ISO 3 - 6 with an R72 filter. I use 6 around midday but will go down to 3 if the sun is less strong. For Turkey I imagine ISO6 will be suitable.

I also have a blog article about Rollei IR400 film here - https://kevinthephotographer.wordpress.com/2012/07/10/rollei-infrared-film-the-stornoway-session/

wow they look great, i had read somewhere that down to ISO 6 was doable, it certainly briings out the film.
will give it a go, ta
