Is anyone using this make of tripod. Velbon Ultra Maxi L Tripod. If so how do you find it?.

I need a lightweight but stable tripod to use for macro and low level POV landscapes. Weight is an issue due to health problems.

Equipment i would like to use on it would be 40D + Sigma 150mm macro lens.
Or Canon 40D + Canon 24-70mm with filters.

Do you have an alternative option.

All responses welcome.

regards brian.

You should take a look at a Gorillapod. No only is it quite light but durable, really adjustable and can take the weight of the DSLR and Large lens (the Zoom version).

Thanks Andrew, i do feel that may be too lightweight, but i will consider it. Im also considering the Cullman shoulder pod as a possible device.

I have that one, while it is great at being a shoulder rest, I don't trust it as a low monopod, not very stable at all! It will do at a pinch, but only indoors or a still day. Probably OK with a small light camera, but not with MY 40D!

Thanks Barry, Steve and Chris, feed back is appreciated.
