Mini-rant

That because they just go to track days and ride on the road rather than go to a proper instructor school which can learn you alot about going through corners (were you will gain time) faster.

Very true... but it doesn't stop it being annoying for those of us who have attended such schools!

It should be simple - make all the cars and bikes capable of doing 200mph, but just build in a cut-off mechanism that kicks in at 70mph, like on lorries.

Why would anyone object?

Simples.

Because I like to break the law...derrrr...:cuckoo:

I am not posting to have a go at bikers, I used to be one myself many years ago when the roads were quieter, but many a time I have had a biker approaching with what appears to be their headlight on main beam. I can understand wanting to be seen in daylight but is it common practice to do this at night also?.

Sometimes it is hard to work out whether it is a motorcycle approaching or one of those car drivers that think it is ok to have their one working headlamp on main beam to make up for the non working one (now that is a rant, but against those car drivers).

Galaxy - I agree with you. It's quite annoying when bikers put their full beams lights on, especially when there's no need!

It's interesting you mention that it's sometimes hard to see motorcycles approaching - this evening on the way home I saw what I thought was a car oncoming, when in fact in front of the car was a motorcycle. The biker was obscuring one of the car's headlamps, and the bike's light looked like it was on the car from the angle I was at. If I had been pulling out without paying much attention there could have been an accident there...

Ah. In which case you like to pay the fee for doing so.

If I get caught...if...

There's a time and a place...lots of electronic devices available to alert you to where and when...

Like you never, ever go over the posted speed limit...we all do from time to time, I'm just honest enough to admit it...grow up...

No - I don't. I don't drive - no need to - I live in Mordor.

Seriously, though - it winds me up people who moan about being caught speeding - or indeed parking fines. You know it's illegal - don't do it. It's like moaning about being done for shoplifting.

It's nothing massive, but it really annoys me that there's all these ads aimed at car drivers saying look out for bikers. Where are the ads aimed at Bikers saying don't undertake on blind bends, don't weave in and out of 2 lanes of traffic, don't drive up the car in front's arse.

I know not all bikers are stupid, and I'm not saying that for a minute. But within the last year every single bike accident within a 3 mile radius of my house was proved to be the fault of the biker, either through speeding, taking stupid risks, or just generally riding like Terrence-****-wit.

Totally agree Chris.
Something that annoys me EVEN more, is the little chav muppets that ride the mopeds around :bang:
about 3 inches away from my backside.

Well a few years ago I got so wound up with one, he was SOOO goddamn close.
Well unfortunately a grasshopper ran out in front of me, so I had to do an emergency stop.
That little moped riding idiot went flying, after smashing into the back of my car and luckily (for him) there's was no damage.
He decided NOT to say a word to me, just picked up his hair dryer on wheels, and sped off. Pretty quickly :woot:

as a rider and a driver i agree with both posts but think you will find the problem with the bikers that weave between the traffic are usually the new generation of biker that seems to think they are invincible

I too am an ex biker----many many years ago thankfully.I much prefer four wheels now.In my village I know quite a few aging (40+) bikers who all ride sensibly. However they all bear the very significant scars of their adrenaline fueled lunatic youth.
I think the Govt ad is a fair one although superfluous as we should be looking out for all traffic anyway. However I cant but help agree with the OPs rant. The vast majority of the Bikers I witness in my daily trog are idiots riding for a fall. The few that arent I would suggest are the more mature riders who have survived long enough to be sensible about their own survival.Mind you the worst piece of driving I have seen in a long while was this morning on the M4---when two cars pretended they were motorbikes and constantly weaved in and out of all three lanes for a couple of miles only to gain 100yds on the "pack".

Saw a bloke on a Bandit and a bloke in a BMW M3 on Sunday, both behaving like tools.

I was doing 60 on a dual carriage way and they both past me like I was stood still. Both easy over 100mph, bandit first with M3 chasing him.

Neither gained my respect, or for that matter, were to bothered about the ad campaigns

Was it possible that the BMW was an unmarked police car?

Who's moaning? Not me...If I get caught speeding then so be it...I choose to do so and accept the consequenses, but once again - you have to pick your moments so as to reduce the risk to other road users...

Therein lies the rub------Other bloody road users. How inconsiderate of these cretins to use the road when I am on it.If these people just thought a little bit and stayed at home then my journeys would actually be quite pleasant.

CF trains, cinemae, restaurants.

Blummin proles.

Well quite...busy roads? Drive sensibly and leave 'proper' gaps...

Clear empty road with loads of visibility and no blind corners or dips? Foot through the floor time...
