Someone decided to take a brick to my car today. Left the windscreen with a huge dent and cracked pretty much all over, oh and bruised ego too. I took a photo for prosperity, but realise now I'll never be a proper pro tog because I forgot to stick the CPR filter on first!

God knows why they do this. It's not like the car was on the road, and even had the windscreen facing well away from the road. :bang: I shall have to look on the bright side and assume there's a reason in life for this, maybe to stop me being involved in an accident elsewhere perhaps? Still sucks ***, and it can't get fixed today either :(

Awww sweetie, this is tragic to such a beaut aswell. I hope they catch the ****ers who did this!!!! :'(

Maybe they did it because of the copyright symbol?

Thank you Dawn. I have been working on this and a suspect is already in the frame. It might also be that one or two nosey neighbours I've yet to meet may have seen something. At least the immediate community in my road is keen to ensure it doesn't happen any more.

Bar Stewards
(everything else I want to say will get caught by the swear filter)

LOL Carol. Trust me, my original posting was ***** **** ******* ***** ********** ************************* ***. I could have done without this on top of everything else this week, as you well know...

they must be proper bankers

yep... It's not like i go out of my way to upset anyone where I live. I crossed words with a girl over the road last year when she blocked my car with hers, but that was ages ago and we've since spoken and are pleasant to each other now. besides, she was in the wrong then and realises it now.

So... where's Jordie!! :D

Neighbourhood watch to the rescue then? (what cams do they have?)

Not sure yet. The likely culprit emerging seems to be someone who's not long moved in around here. Too early to say, but from what people know of him he seems to have depression and drinking issues. Anyway, time will tell...

Join the club mate but yours will be repaired faster than mine and a hell of a lot cheaper, frustrating though

By the way Autoglass repair bullet holes ........... dont they..............sorry:coat:

Looking on the bright side it's only the glass that has been damaged so as long as you're fully comp it'll just be the excess and no loss of NCB.

I still say bring back the stocks, if they're caught i'd sooner throw rotten fruit at them than see them convicted and walk free from court with a £20 fine.

I'd even pay for the fruit if it were mine

Yep, just an excess for the new screen. The excess was still almost half the cost of just going direct though. Anyway, all fixed now. Took AG best part of 2 hours to repair it though - a tad difficult removing the damaged screen.

As for rotten fruit - what a waste. A whipping post is my favoured form of punishment ;)

Little shats .
nothing that repeated administering of a size ten boot at speed wouldnt cure .

Oh trust me, I have a pair sitting on standby... I'm just not the type to do anything until I have proof. And sadly in this case it's unlikely to be there. I have 2 possible eye witnesses to speak with yet. then we'll see... ;)

Get one of those deer cam things, cost about £100, work on IR so place it so it wont be triggered by spurious passers by.
might not do for conviction, but it would prob be enough o get them a swift chat from the polizei

I thought it was your heavy tripod!

And thats a beasty crack.... Lets have a ganders at your new shiney windscreen.

Hows the back window doing? Fixed that yet?!

I'm currently exploring SA anti car theft devices :naughty:. I think it might be cheaper to just have Drodd sat in it glaring at them. hehe

"Ouch" at that one. And I thought it's bad where I am. That's a real bummer, and yet who ever did that may get away with it scots free. An another example of the kind of society we are living in.

Don't set me off about Autoglass Pete. :bang: Had my windscreen fitted by them a couple of weeks ago. Still waiting for them to do it again and correct their cock up. :bang:

Kev.

Wasn't it just. I took more pics of it removed, to show how deep they had pushed through the surface.

The back screen is a slightly sore point. I thought I had a solution for that a few weeks ago, but it looks like events have cost me that solution. Hey ho, summer is nearly here and the roof can go down more :)

yep. And it's not like i live in an area renowned for scum either. In fact, as young mr J might agree, Lexden is considered the posh end of town! oh, and when/if i find the culprit they will not get away scot free, of that i am certain.

I was quite impressed with AG after i explained the level of service I expected. originally they were going to make me wait until Monday afternoon. Considering I called them late Friday afternoon they were here at 9am and stayed until almost 11am doing the work. The guy looked the dependable type rather than a bodge-it sort. So I'm hopeful of no problems with their work. I stood and watched him while he worked, no issues at all. So far they get a  from me :)

Used them lots of times through my business. But the last time just had to be my Range Rover. :bang: They broke the passenger side wiper arm and bodged it with 'dum dum'. Which didn't work and the blade twisted and scratched my new screen.
All they had to do was say the arm was broken and we'll get you a new one. But the manager lied to me and said he knew nothing about it and it must have already been done.
Until I told him I've owned it from new and nobody but myself has worked on the car. He then decided to admit it.
Its now costing them a genuine Landrover heated screen with rain sensor and a wiper arm.
This could easily have been prevented with a little honesty.

Kev.

Ah, that's a shame. I think in these corporates such as AG it is often down to the integrity of the employee. In my case I got good service but you could tell that from just looking at him. He took pride in his work.

Here you go young man. Good as new - now if only I could find the ******* who painted an effing great big copyright logo over it... :D

I thought i'd also post an image to try and capture the force used to cause the crater it left.

and finally, and trying to make something good out of it all, I thought i'd try an artistic shot too.

Nice to see its repaired and also the crater made by the brick shows the true force...unfortunately my rear window was smashed into millions of little pieces and that was by a wooden plank ............or was that the person:thinking:..........same I think.

There really are some low-lifes knocking around eh? I doubt there's much difference between them and a plank, except perhaps the plank has an IQ rating.

Yeah, very lucky there was no paint damage. It's not a particularly fancy car, just an ordinary MG. It looks nice probably because I take very good care of it, and it's never let me down. It's also been the best car for sheer fun. I always climb out of it with a smile on my face and feeling sad the journey has ended. :'(

I've never been one to be sentimental about cars but I really will regret the day this car leaves my hands.

mindless idiots :bang: nice to see it back in one piece

Thanks. Sentiments are shared :)

Glad you got it fixed so well and so quickly. Its a sweet little car. I had to sell my midget a while back and have regretted it since the moment it left my drive.

Thank you Sue. You know where I'm coming from then :)

Hey to really look on the bright side you could have been subject to a brick hitting your windscreen while tramming up the M1!

that really isn't nice (sounds like a bomb going off)

I'm sorry to say i've experienced far worse Barry. We had some really severe wind storms a while back, perhaps 2 or 3 years ago now? I was travelling down the M40 and a curtain sided lorry ahead of me had his curtains pulled back. One of the upright poles from his trailer came loose and somersaulted down the carriageway like a javelin straight into me. I escaped unscathed, by inches. The whole thing seemed to take place in slow motion too...

If you've suffered the brick from motorway bridge throwing crap then you have my sympathy. Any missile hitting you at speed is bad news! :(
