Might be a stupid question but...

I have just started using gels on my flash (about time I know). Weird thing is do they have to be spotless like lens filters? I know thay are not involved in the optical chain but have you ever noticed bits from the filtered flash in your image?

The reason I ask is I have put velcro on them to make em quick to use but there are tiny fibres that seem to have stuck with static to them. Do i need to worry or not?!?!?
 
no, it's fine. Think about where things have to be to cast a sharp shadow :)

Things on the front of your lens don't really cause an issue either, for much the same reason....way out of focus :)
 
Nice one cheers, I figured it was not much of an issue but you never know eh?!?
